rory macdonaldRory MacDonald is officially out of his scheduled bout against Carlos Condit at UFC 158 this March. MMAFighting.com has reported that multiple sources close to Rory MacDonald’s camp confirmed the welterweight has been forced to withdraw from the contest due to injury.

Early indications are that his opponent, Carlos Condit, will still fight on the card; however, no replacement has been announced as of this article’s publication.

Although matchmaker Joe Silva will undoubtedly have his hands full trying to find such a late replacement for Condit, don’t be surprised to see a legitimate 170lbs contender step in for the injured MacDonald; the fight is, after all, expected to serve as the co-main event of a night that will see Georges St. Pierre put his welterweight strap on the line against Nick Diaz.

[Update 8:52pm]: Carlos Condit is now expected to face Johny Hendricks, who was originally scheduled to fight Jake Ellenberger. The quick reshuffling of the card leaves Ellenberger as the odd man out, but immediately elevates the co-main event to probable number one contender status.
