XFC Opens Flyweight Division

Jimmy “The Prowler” Fowler is set to make his XFC debut at the promotion’s February 22 event. The Brazilian Jiu-jitsu specialist will be one half of the promotions first ever televised Flyweight matchup, where he will take on D’Angelo Bynum from Atlanta. Fighting out of South Carolina, this matchup carries some substantial weight in the regional standings, with Fowler being touted as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in South Carolina.

Fowler enters the bout with a pro record of (5-1) with his sole loss coming at the hands of a much more experienced fighter, and an unlucky KO. He has since followed the loss from his second professional fight with 4 straight victories, all by submission and twice in the first round.

“The Prowler” has a strong wrestling base and uses it to keep his fights where he feels most comfortable. Though his strengths are in his takedowns and grappling the Flyweight prospect has no fear when it comes to standing against an opponent. In addition to two KO victories as an amateur, Fowler has used his striking to knock opponents to the mat where he then jumps on to lock in a submission.
Recognized as one of the best fighters in the area, Fowler looks to further cement that position by defeating D’Angelo Bynum who recently beat Tennessee’s top Flyweight Justin Pennington in November of 2012. Though he is only (1-0) as a pro, Bynum does carry a 9-fight undefeated win streak as an amateur, and will be at his best as he looks to knock of the Carolina’s top Flyweight.

Jimmy Fowler makes his XFC debut in the inaugural Flyweight division bout for the promotion as Xtreme Fighting Championships returns to Charlotte, North Carolina for XFC 22: Crossing the Line. XFC 22 is presented by ICRealTime security Solutions and ThroatPunch Ind. Apparel and will air live from the Grady Cole Center on AXStv beginning at 9pm.
