Brazilian mixed martial artist Luis “Sapo” Santos is the newest addition to Xtreme Fighting Championship’s roster. Santos, who normally fights in the Welterweight division, brings a unique opportunity to the promotion as he also participates as a Middleweight, and with proper notice can possibly still fight in the Lightweight division. Santos brings a veteran’s record of (54-8) into the cage, and has already inked a deal for his first fight with the promotion at April’s XFC 23: Louisville Slugfest event.

Santos has been fighting professionally since 2000 in his home country of Brazil, where he began his career with an unprecedented twenty one straight wins. It took nearly 5 years of professional competition before “Sapo” first tasted defeat. The first loss has since been followed by numerous win streaks of up to 12 consecutive fights, and now 12 years into his professional career he will look to begin another as he joins the XFC team on a long term multi-fight contract.

A black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, under the Nogueira brothers, Santos now trains with one of the premier MMA gyms in the country at American Top Team in Coconut Creek. He is known to be a very technical fighter, and his record can stand as the proof for that argument, with 29 KO/TKO, and 11 submission victories through his long career.

At 32 years old, Santos find himself in his physical prime as he joins the XFC ranks and he will look to make a run for either the Middleweight or Welterweight titles in 2013, as the promotion begins to start filling divisional titles.

Santos will make his XFC debut on April 19th in Louisville, Kentucky Live on AXStv versus an opponent to be named in the coming week. Be sure to tune in!
