nickdiaz-143presserUFC welterweight contender Nick Diaz will be taking on UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre in the main event at UFC 158 which will take place on March 16 at the Bell Centre in Monteal. The two fighters took part in the UFC 158 press conference which took place earlier today.

Diaz spoke on how he feels about doing press conferences so close to the fight and what he has been up to since serving his one year suspension away from mixed martial arts:

I don’t feel that I’ve ever been able to make it 100% leading up to a fight. These fights I’ve had the past couple of years have all been pretty back to back. I don’t ever feel like I’ve been 100% and completely healed up before starting my next training for a fight. I got guys in my camp that got fights and sometimes I end up being main training partners..so I work hard through those camps. I end up with injuries, I’m not always injury free through fights, but I don’t really touch on it too much. I might have to fight again and again…so it’s nice to kind of heal up for a little while and take a step back to see what’s what. So that’s pretty much what its been for me.

Diaz did have a streak of fighting fairly consistently prior to his suspension for marijuana metabolites. He fought three times in 2010 and three times in 2011, and probably was on pace to fight three times in 2012 since his first bout took place in February of that year. Let’s hope he continues to attend the press conferences he required to attend as well as pass any drug tests that may come his way prior to March 16.
