pat_curranFeatherweight champion Pat Curran (18-4) spoke with ProMMAnow.com’s Daniel Theodore following his five-round split decision win over Patricio “Pitbull” Freire (17-2) Thursday night at Bellator 85 in Irvine, Calif. Curran discussed his thoughts on the decision and whether or not he had any doubts prior the the result being read.

Curran talked about Pitbull’s performance during the fight, pointed out he was a bit more conservative than he anticipated he was going to be and how that played to Curran’s advantage. Curran reflected on some of the big body shots Pitbull was able to land during the bout, as well as a head kick that got his attention.

Pitbull also left Curran with a huge lump on his foot after blocking a kick with his elbow, according to the Champ. Curran will face Bellator Season 6 featherweight tournament winner Daniel Straus next, and the Champ said he wants to do it as soon as possible.
