The UFC made it’s China debut earlier today and four fighters went home a little richer.
UFC officials announced that Cung Le, Thiago Silva, Takanori Gomi, and Mac Danzig were all recipients of $40,000 in bonus money at the “UFC Macao: Franklin vs. Le event“.
Le won the “Knockout of the Night” award after after landing a huge right hook on Rich Franklin that put the former champion out face down on the canvas in the very first round. Franklin threw a kick and didn’t bring his hand back up to his chin which allowed Le to land a devastating lunging right hook to put him out cold.
Silva won “Submission of the Night” after submitting Stanislav Nedkov with an arm triangle choke in the third round of their fight. Silva and Nedkov spent much of the fight clinched against the cage, but Silva survived a second round knockdown to take it to a gassed Nedkov in the final frame and get the submission.
Takanori Gomi and Mac Danzig won the “Fight of the Night” bonus after their back and forth battle that ended in a split decision victory for Gomi. The majority of the bout took place on the feet with both fighters getting takedowns at different points in the fight.
