The UFC has officially announced the addition of a lightweight tilt between Melvin Guillard (30-11-2, 1 NC) and Jamie Varner (20-7-1, 2 NC) to an already stacked TUF 16 Finale card.

Although both fighters will enter the contest coming off of losses, the bout looks to be an absolute stand up war and definite fight of the night front-runner.

The December 15th card will also feature contests between TUF coaches Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson, as well as UFC veterans Pat Barry and Shane Del Rosario.

After a season of record low ratings for the UFC’s Ultimate Fighter reality show, this extremely deep, non-PPV card is welcome news to fight fans who have been largely disappointed with the series’ 16th installment.

Although UFC President Dana White has seemed largely unconcerned with the show’s slipping numbers, the delivery of this impressive free card, coupled with the recent announcement that Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen would be coaching the upcoming 17th season, suggests that the UFC boss is very much aware of TUF’s struggle to keep viewers tuned in.
