ProMMAnow.com (www.prommanow.com) correspondent Rod Galvan recently caught up with UFC middleweight Alan Belcher (18-6) to talk about his upcoming bout with Yushin Okami (27-7) scheduled for UFC 155 on December 29 in Las Vegas.

Incidentally, Belcher’s very first fight in the UFC was against Okami back in August 2006. Belcher lost the decision in that bout and talked about his desire for retribution:

“I’ve never had a rematch before, so now I’m experiencing that and it’s really motivating me. I’m not chasing a rank, I’m not chasing a title; nothing do with that. It’s just a personal challenge to get that win back. I’m going to train my butt off and Yushin Okami better be prepared because I’m definitely going to come in there and perform my best. I’m going to go in there, beat Yushin Okami, get that win off my record, and I’m ready. I’m ready for war come December 29th. I’m better than I’ve ever been. I feel great and it’s time to get it on. … Yushin Okami, I know what he’s bringing. He’s a great fighter and everything, but he ain’t got enough, he ain’t got enough to beat me. So, I’m going to bring it December 29th.”

In addition to preparing for his rematch with Okami. Belcher said he is training for a couple other top-ranked middleweights and is coming for them:

“I’m also training for [Chris] Weidman, Michael Bisping, every single day. I know their moves, I know what they do. I practice for them and think about them every day. There’s only a couple guys I’m going to fight the rest of my career. So, those guys, I think about them every day. I train for them every day. I’m coming for you. Every one of you guys: Michael Bisping, Chris Weidman, Yushin Okami. I train for you every single day. And whoever else steps up in that top contender position, you better watch out. I’m coming for you.”

Belcher is currently riding a four-fight win streak, all stoppages. Starting with UFC 107, he took out Wilson Gouveia via TKO, submitted Patrick Cote at UFC 113, submitted Jason MacDonald (via punches) at UFC Fight Night 25, and most recently, TKO’d Rousimar Palhares at UFC on FOX 3.

Asked if he defeats Okami on December 29 where that will put him in the title picture, Belcher said he isn’t sure, but it should put him against another top contender:

“I’m not really sure. It’s going to keep my rank up there in the top five I’m sure. But it’s up to the UFC, up to the fans. I’m not worried about that, I’m just going to keep winning. If they don’t give me the shot against the best guys in the division, that’s stupid. I’m winning. I’m on a big win streak. I’m one of the best in the world. I’m not looking for any shortcuts. I’m not looking for a title shot after my next win or anything. That’d be great, I’d love to have it. I’m just focusing on winning and I never want to lose again. I just want to keep winning. I believe I’m on that level, man. I want to be the best in the world and that’s what I’m working for.”
