The UFC continues to develop its ongoing plans for international expansion with the announcement that Brazil and Canada will be targeted to host an increased number of events in 2013.

UFC Director of Operations in Canada, Tom Wright, took to the air  on UFC Central Radio to announce that at least four events would take place in Canada this coming year; additionally, a Canadian installment of the promotion’s reality series, The Ultimate Fighter, looks to be increasingly likely.

Meanwhile, in the opposite hemisphere, UFC general counsel Ike Epstein reportedly met with Brazil’s Secretary of Commerce to discuss expansion of the UFC’s presence in the country. The news comes closely on the heels of a highly successful UFC 153, which saw upwards of 340,000 pay-per-view buys according to MMAFighting.com.

The organization has been extremely active of late in expanding its international presence, with major entries into India, Australia, South Africa, and China already in motion. As interest in the sport and regional tallent grows outside of the United States, the UFC has continued to gradually increase the number of events held in these emerging markets, and 2013 looks poised to be a breakout year for Zuffa’s international product.
