The Super Fight League (SFL) promotion has announced SFL 5, the second installment of its new Friday Night Fight Night series on October 19th. The event will air live and free to fans around the world via the SFL Youtube channel.
“Lightning” Lakhwinder Singh Sekhon will take on Mohamed Abdel in a lightweight bout which will serve as the main event. Sekhon has won two previous SFL bouts and has finished all of his opponents via stoppage. He had this to say about Abdel:
“I am glad to be back fighting. I joined SFL to test myself as a fighter, so I am never concerned about who they put me up against. I am well-rounded, I can finish the fight standing or on the ground and if the opportunity comes I will stop him.”
SFL will also host the first Indian female professional bout when SFL Challenger’s show winner Manjit Kolekar takes on SFL Challenger’s show veteran Ritika Singh in a flyweight rematch. Kolekar spoke on the opportunity to face Singh again:
“I’m glad that Ritika has challenged me once again. I beat her once at an amateur MMA bout – the re-match won’t be any different – oh yeah maybe I will knock her out faster and harder.”
The SFL 5 undercard will feature SFL Challengers semi-finalists Rajinder Meena and Sandeep Yadav, as well as British-Indian Muay Thai expert Rajesh Sallan. The Super Fight league is looking to highlight Indian MMA at its finest, so be sure to check the broadcast via their Youtube channel on October 19th with the first bout airing at 11:30 a.m. ET.
