George Sotiropoulos vs. Ross Pearson added to UFC on FX 6

Australia’s own George Sotiropoulos (14-4) will square off against Ross Pearson (13-6) when the UFC returns to the South Pacific this December.

The card, headlined by a middleweight clash between Rousimar Palhares and Hector Lombard, is expected to double as the finale of the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter: Australia vs. U.K.

Sotiropoulos and Pearson, who coached their native countries (Australia and the United Kingdom respectively) on the reality series, will meet on December 15th at a yet to be determined venue.

The two lightweights are no strangers to The Ultimate Fighter series, having both starred in the U.S. version of the UFC’s reality show. The Australian star Sotiropoulos made a run to the semifinals of season six in 2007, while Englishman Pearson came away the winner of season nine, another intercontinental tournament best known for giving fans one of the most vicious knockouts in MMA history.

The former lightweight contender Sotiropoulos, who has not fought since the summer of 2011, will look to shake off two back to back losses and begin the slow climb back into title contention. Standing in his way will be an equally motivated Pearson, having posted a pedestrian 3-2 record at 155 pounds prior to making a temporary drop to featherweight.

UFC on FX 6 is set to air live to American audiences on December 14th, kicking off what will be two consecutive nights of fights on the network, with the finale of the upcoming American edition of TUF set to air the following night.
