Takanori Gomi

A new fight has been added to the UFC on FUEL TV 6 card as Mac Danzig (21-9-1) is set to face Takanori Gomi (33-8) in a lightweight battle. The event is expected to take place on Nov. 10, at the Venetian Macau Resort Hotel’s Cotai Arena in Macau, China.

News of the bout was announced by Mac Danzig today via his Twitter page.

The main card for this event is set to air on FUEL TV with the prelims expected to air on Facebook/FX. The only other two bouts officially announced for this card are Jeff Hougland vs. Takeya Mizugaki and John Lineker vs. Yasuhiro Urushitani.

Mac Danzig last fought at UFC 145 in April where he scored a unanimous decision victory over Efrain Escudero. Prior to that he dropped a unanimous decision to Matt Wiman in a bout which earned “Fight of the Night” honors at the “UFC Live: Cruz vs. Johnson” event in October 2011. Danzig has struggled to put together a solid winning streak whilst competing in the UFC, and he will no doubt look to break this trend with a good performance against Gomi.

Takanori Gomi was last in action at UFC 144 in February, where he scored an second round TKO victory over Eiji Mitsuoka in Japan. That victory snapped a two fight skid, which included back-to-back losses against Nate Diaz and Clay Guida during 2011. Prior to that Gomi defeated Tyson Griffin via first round knockout at the “UFC Live: Jones vs. Matyushenko” event in August 2010, the KO earned Takanori “Knockout of the Night” honors. Gomi now has a chance to put another notch in the win column with a victory over Danzig.
