Former Strikeforce middleweight champion and one of MMA’s most dangerous submission fighters, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza (16-3, 1 NC), scored an impressive first round knockout (41-seconds) win over Derek Brunson (9-2) Saturday night in San Diego.

ProMMAnow.com (www.prommanow.com) reporter Dan “The Wolfman” Theodore caught up with Jacare after the bout to discuss the win and where he goes from here.

Twelve of Jacare’s 16 wins have come via submission, but the giant-fisted Brazilian said he has become very confident with his hands. And as far as what next, many feel Jacare should rematch 185-pound champ Luke Rockhold for the title, but Jacare said he is willing to fight whoever they put in front of him, but he would like to fight more often.

There has been a lot of talk about the fans wanting to see Jacare fighting in the UFC, however, Jacare said he has a contract with Strikeforce and won’t entertain those ideas of fighting somewhere else until his contract is up.
