Usually when fans talk about Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza it is in relation to his well documented world class ground game. Tonight it was his hands that will sure to be talked about as he destroyed Derek Brunson with a series of right hands at 41 seconds of the first round.

Brunson started aggressively looking to apply pressure early. “Jacare” remained patient, coming forward and picking his shots. He found what he was looking for as Brunson came forward swinging wildly. Souza countered with a right hand over the top that dropped Brunson where he stood. “Jacare” backed off thinking it was over but after the referee failed to intervene, he continued to pour it on, delivering a short flurry of right hands that left Brunson unconscious on the mat.

It was an impressive victory for the former Strikeforce middleweight champion (16-3 MMA, 6-1 SF), and is sure to move him back into title contention once again.
