Two top tier lightweights will square off in Knoxville,Tenn. on September 28th at “XFC 20: High Octane“as Eric Reynolds (15-5) and Danny Salinas (11-4) clash in the main event live on AXS TV. The bout was made official on Wednesday and will cap off a fight card that highlights some of the top pro MMA talent in Tennessee and surrounding areas.

Eric Reynolds is no stranger to big fights. A Bellator veteran with 20 professional fights under belt, Reynolds has rattled off  two consecutive wins inside the XFC cage against two very tough opponents.

Those wins have Reynolds primed for a title shot against fellow lightweight star Nick Newell. Not wanting to wait to fight Newell, Reynolds opted to accept the fight in Knoxville against Salinas knowing a win would solidify his spot in the championship bout.

Danny Salinas is 3-1 in his last four fights and is making his XFC debut. Salinas has competed as heavy as light heavyweight during his four year pro career. Spending the majority of his career in Texas this will be his first nationally televised fight. Salinas is known as a hard hitting wrestler with finishing capabilities and will be looking to silence all of the championship talk surrounding his opponent and make a run for the belt himself.

XFC President John Prisco commented on the match-up:

“Reynolds sounds excited, he thinks it’s a good match up, he sees some holes in Salinas’ game that he thinks he can expose,” said Prisco. “Personally I think this is going to be a very exciting fight. Both of these guys like to stand and keep to the striking, and a lot of times that makes for the most exciting fights. They both have knock-out power and Eric has a lot riding on this fight, so I know he’s going to bring his A-game for this one.”

This fight will either establish Salinas as a force within the lightweight ranks of the XFC or will cement the match-up between Nick Newell and Eric Reynolds. Either way both fighters will need to be razor sharp to back up comments that they are coming to put on a show for the fans.

XFC 20 will take place at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum on September 28th. The main card will air live nationally on AXS TV. We will have guests from this event live on Pro MMA Now Radio and  as always stay close to the site for all the happenings and “High Octane” updates.
