A new fight has been announced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship as Travis “Hapa” Browne (13-0-1) faces Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva (16-4) in the UFC on FX 5 headliner. The event will take place at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Oct. 5.

The bout was announced by officials via the UFC.com website.

Travis Browne was originally scheduled to fight Ben Rothwell at UFC on FOX 4 on Aug. 4, but Rothwell was forced to withdraw due to an ankle injury. A replacement was not found in time for that event, but it seems to have worked out for the best as Browne now competes in his first main event. UFC on FX 5 will air LIVE on FX with the prelims expected to air on Facebook.

Travis Browne is undefeated in his MMA career so far, a draw against Cheick Kongo at UFC 120 is the only blemish on his professional record. Since the Kongo fight, Travis has notched up three consecutive victories over Stefan Struve, Rob Broughton, and Chad Griggs. “Hapa’s” most recent outing against Griggs earned him “Submission of the Night” honors, after he managed to finish the fight with an arm-triangle choke in the first round.

Antonio Silva last fought at UFC 146 in May, where he was defeated via TKO by Cain Velasquez which left “Bigfoot” with a deep and bloody cut to the head. Prior to that he was knocked out by Daniel Cormier at the ‘Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Kharitonov’ event in September 2011. Antonio’s most recent win was against Fedor Emelianenko, where he won via TKO in the second round at ‘Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Silva’ in February 2011.
