Ulysses ‘Useless’ Gomez signs with UFC, replaces Ian McCall at UFC on FOX 4 against John Moraga

The UFC announced that Ulysses “Useless” Gomez has signed with the promotion and will make his debut at UFC on FOX 4 against John Moraga. Gomez will be replacing Ian McCall who had to withdraw from the bout with an injury.

Gomez (9-2) is one of the top flyweight fighters in the world and was the Tachi Palace Fights bantamweight champion. Gomez has won back-to-back fights since losing a unanimous decision to highly ranked flyweight Darrell Montague in February 2011. Gomez has seven wins via submission and has participated in ProMMAnow’s “The Ulysses Gomez Experiment”, a weekly blog series detailing his fight career.

John Moraga (10-1) has won four consecutive fights with three of the wins coming via submission. Moraga has fought primarily in the Rage in the Cage promotion and hails from the Arizona Combat Sports fight team.

UFC on FOX 4 will take place on August 4th in Los Angeles, California, at the Staples Center. The fights are expected to air on FOX, FUEL TV, and possibly Facebook.
