Born in Cuba, Hector Lombard poured himself into Judo as a way to eventually escape an oppressive regime. He became an Olympian, moved to Australia, turned to MMA, eventually wound up at American Top Team in Florida and over time became one  of the baddest dudes on the planet at 185 pounds. This weekend at UFC 149 Hector Lombard will make his long-awaited Octagon debut as he takes on Tim “The Barbarian” Boetsch, who is coming off a remarkable knockout victory over Yushin Okami. If Lombard is able to get through Boetsch, he could find himself on the fast track to a shot at UFC middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva.
