UFC welterweight Josh Koscheck

UFC officials announced an outstanding welterweight fight today when top ten welterweights Josh Koscheck and Jake Ellenberger will square off in the co-main event at UFC 151 on September 1st.

UFC 151 will take place at the Mandalay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will be headlined by the UFC Light Heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Dan Henderson.

Josh Koscheck (17-6) is coming off a split decision loss to Johny Hendricks in May. Koscheck had won two consecutive fights prior to the loss and will look to get back on the winning track with a win over another top welterweight in Ellenberger.

Jake Ellenberger (27-6) is coming off a TKO loss against Martin Kampmann in June. Ellenberger was on the cusp of a title shot prior to the loss to Kampmann in which many people thought he was the favorite to beat Kampmann. Ellenberger will be looking to right the ship with a win over a former title contender in Koscheck. Both guys have good KO power and wrestling backgrounds, so we could be in some fireworks early!

The UFC 151 card thus far is below:

  • Jon Jones vs. Dan Henderson
  • Josh Koscheck vs. Jake Ellenberger
  • Michael Johnson vs. Danny Castillo
  • Thiago Tavares vs. Dennis Hallman
  • Dennis Siver vs. Eddie Yagin
  • John Lineker vs. Yasuhiro Urushatani
  • Takeya Mizugaki vs. Jeff Hougland
