UFC light heavyweight Phil Davis

As previously reported UFC on FOX 4 will see Phil Davis (9-1) take on Wagner Prado (7-0) in a light-heavyweight matchup. UFC officials recently confirmed the fight which replaces the originally scheduled meeting between Davis and Chad Griggs who suffered an injury forcing him to withdraw.

UFC on FOX 4 takes place on August 4th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The event will feature a headliner between Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Brandon Vera. The main card is set to air on Fox with the prelims expected to air on FUEL TV and Facebook.

In his last fight Phil Davis suffered his first career defeat at the hands of recent UFC light heavyweight title challenger Rashad Evans. The two men faced each other at UFC on FOX 2 event with Evans taking the unanimous decision victory. Prior to the Evans fight, “Mr. Wonderful” had built up a winning streak of nine with five of those fights taking place in the UFC. Davis defeated Brian Stann, Alexander Gustafsson, Rodney Wallace, Tim Boetsch, and Antônio Rogério Nogueira placing him at the top end of the division.

UFC newcomer Wagner Prado is currently undefeated in his MMA career, so far having picked up multiple victories on the regional circuit in his native Brazil. The Team Nogueira fighter was last in action against Aldo Sultao at the Max Fight 13 in Brazil. He won the fight by knockout in the first round. He will no doubt look to continue his winning form and put on a big performance in his UFC debut in August.
