The UFC has announced a small adjustment to the UFC 150 event slated to take place on August 11th in Denver, Colorado, at the Pepsi Center. UFC middleweight Rousimar Palhares has been tabbed to replace an injured Luiz Cane and will take on former number one contender Yushin Okami. Also, TUF Live standout Justin Lawrence will take on Max Hollaway in a featherweight matchup.
Palhares is coming (14-4) is coming off a TKO beatdown at the hands of Alan Belcher. The feared submission specialist had won three straight bouts leading up to that fight, two of them via submission. Palhares replaces Luiz Cane who was set to make his middleweight debut against Yushin Okami, but was forced from the fight due to injury.
Okami (26-7) is coming off back to back losses for the first time in his career. He lost his middleweight title shot against Anderson Silva at UFC 134, then returned at UFC 144 to outclass Tim Boetsch only to get rocked in the final round to lose via TKO.
Justin Lawrence (4-0) is coming off a highlight reel headkick KO in his official UFC debut against John Cofer earlier this month. Lawrence was one of the favorite to win “TUF Live” but was upset by the eventual winner Michael Chiesa and eliminated from the show.
Max Hollaway (5-1) is coming off a dominant unanimous decision win over Pat Schilling earlier this month. Hollaway rebounded from his first career defeat at the hands of highly touted prospect Dustin Poirier. Hollaway is the youngest fighter on the UFC roster at 20 years of age.
