Ryan Couture

A new fight has been added to the ‘Strikeforce: Rockhold Vs. Kennedy’ card, lightweight fighters Ryan Couture (4-1) and Joe Duarte (10-2) will face each other in July.

News of the fight was announced by Strikeforce officials. The event will take place on July 14th at the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon. The headliner will feature Luke Rockhold against Tim Kennedy and the co-main event will be Nate Marquardt vs. Tyron Woodley.

The main card for the event will air on Showtime and the preliminary card is expected to air on Showtime Extreme.

Ryan Couture enters this fight coming off a victory over Conor Heun at the ‘Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey’ event which took place earlier this year, Ryan won the fight via TKO in the third round. The son of UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture and has won four of his five pro MMA fights. he has only ever competed for Strikeforce and will no doubt look to continue his climb up the lightweight division with a win over Duarte.

Joe Duarte is a 28 year old currently riding a five fight winning streak. His most recent matchup was against Jorge Gurgel at a Strikeforce Challengers headliner in August 2011. Joe won that fight via decision following up a submission victory over Saad Awad at the ‘Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley’ event which took place earlier that year.
