Phil Davis

It has emerged that undefeated prospect Wagner Prado (7-0) will take on Phil Davis (9-1) as a replacement for an injured Chad Griggs (11-2) at UFC on Fox 4 in August. The nature of Chad’s injury is currently unknown.

UFC on Fox 4 will take place on August 4th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The main event on the night will feature Hector Lombard vs. Brian Stann with the main card airing on FOX with the prelims airing on Fuel TV and Facebook.

Phil Davis was last in action at UFC on FOX 2 where he suffered his first career defeat at the hands of recent title challenger Rashad Evans. “Mr Wonderful” lost the fight via unanimous decision due to Rashad’s superior striking and wrestling on the night. Prior to that fight Davis had built up a five fight winning streak in the UFC, defeating many notable fighters including Brian Stann, Alexander Gustafsson, Rodney Wallace, Tim Boetsch, and Antônio Rogério Nogueira.

Wagner Prado will make his UFC debut in this bout. The Brazilian is currently unbeaten in his MMA career and definitely poses a threat coming out of Team Nogueira. Prado was last in action against Aldo Sultao at Max Fight 13 in Brazil. He won the fight by knockout in the first round. Wagner has picked up multiple first round KO’s and has been a familiar face on the regional circuit in Brazil. This will be his first major show and presents a perfect opportunity to impress UFC bosses with a good performance.
