Sara McMann

A new fight has been added to the next Battle Xtreme Championship event with Sara McMann (5-0) facing Anita “El Tigre” Rodriguez (5-3) in a 135lb matchup at  the “Battle Xtreme Championship: The Rise” event in June.

The event is scheduled to take place on June 16th at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield, Mass. The main event will feature Brazilian and American Top Team fighter Rafael “The Law” Dias vs. Ran Weathers.

Battle Xtreme Championship president Fernando Rivera said:

“These are exceptional fighters and this bout is sure to be an incredible show.”

Sara McMann picked up a silver medal in women’s wrestling event at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. She has since continued to wrestle and in 2011 made her MMA debut at a Universal Cage Combat event. that night she took on Christina Marks and won the fight with a rear naked choke submission in the very first round. Her most recent fight was against Hitomi Akano at a Pro Elite event earlier this year. She defeated Akano by unanimous decision and will now move onto her next target at BXC.

Anita Rodriguez enters this fight coming off a decision loss to Jessica Eye at Bellator 66 earlier this year. Prior to the Eye fight she defeated Lizbeth Carreiro via unanimous decision at “KOTC – Total Destruction” in January. Rodriguez will now look to get back into winning form with a win over McMann. Anita has won five fights in her MMA career so far and three of those were via submission. Both ladies have skills on the ground so this one could shape up to be a good one for fans of ground fighting.
