UFC on FOX 3 in East Rutherford, New Jersey’s Izod Center had an attendance of 10,788 which generated a live gate of $1.1 million. The event was headlined by Nate Diaz taking on Jim Miller in a title fight eliminator bout. Although lacking in the star power of previous UFC on FOX events, the third time was a charm for UFC as it is already widely considered the best outing UFC has had on Fox in terms of in cage entertainment.

All aspects of mixed martial arts were on display and every method of victory was showcased in the four fights that aired on network television. Lavar Johnson KO’d Pat Barry after a string of strikes against the cage. Alan Belcher took out Rousimar Palhares by TKO after a barrage of fists and elbows on the ground, and Johny Hendricks outpointed Josh Koscheck in a judge’s decision with Nate Diaz submitting Jim Miller in the main event.

Over night TV ratings came in with UFC on FOX 3 bringing in 2.25 million viewers and coming in first in their time slot with the key adult demographic (18 – 49). The numbers are expected to come up slightly once the final TV ratings report is released. The 2.25 million viewers is down from the 4.5 million viewers who tuned in for UFC on FOX 2 which was headlined by Rashad Evans facing off against Phil Davis, and a co-main event between Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping.

UFC’s next outing with FOX will be on August 4th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Scheduled for that card is a headlining fight between Brian Stann and former Bellator Middleweight Champion Hector Lombard. The co-main event will feature Lyoto Machida facing off against Ryan Bader in a light heavyweight showdown.
