Inside the Cage Radio with host Greg DeLong was back on the ESPN 1450 airwaves in Reno Tuesday. In the opening segment Greg recapped Invicta Fighting Championships‘ inaugural event from this past weekend in Kansas City and talked about Ronda Rousey‘s appearance this past week on The Ultimate Fighter Live on FX.
In segment two, Greg welcomed Strikeforce heavyweight Josh Barnett to the show. Barnett discussed why he changed his nickname from “The Baby-Faced Assassin” to “The War Master”. He talked about his love of music and how his father influenced him in that respect.
Barnett also talked about his professional wrestling career in Japan and how pro wrestling in Japan compares to pro wrestling in the U.S. and why he has never wrestled for any of the U.S. promotions.
Moving on to discussion about his upcoming Strikeforce heavyweight tournament final bout with Olympic medalist Daniel Cormier, Barnett discussed his catch wrestling compared to Cormier’s style of wrestling. Barnett said Cormier has never spent any time on his back during an MMA fight yet and that is exactly where he intends to put him.
Being among the last of the heavyweights remaining in Strikeforce Barnett discussed his relationship with UFC President Dana White and his thoughts on returning to the UFC once Strikeforce closes their doors on the heavyweight division once and for all. Follow Josh Barnett on Twitter at @JoshLBarnett and watch him take on Daniel Cormier in the Strikeforce main event on May 19 live on Showtime.
Following Greg’s interview with Barnett, he talked about the Culinary Worker Union’s (local 226) vendetta against the Fertitta brothers and the UFC, and the subsequent issues the UFC has had with one of their primary sponsors, Anheuser-Busch. Greg also recapped the most recent episode of The Ultimate Fighter and talked about several new bout announcements. All this and more on this episode of Inside the Cage Radio!
