Shogun Rua (20-6) has not fought since dropping a decision loss to Dan Henderson at UFC 139 in what is widely regarded as one of the best MMA bouts of all time.

A bout with Rampage Jackson was in the works but when Jackson elected to go under the knife for a double knee surgery, it eliminated the possibility for the two competitors to meet any time soon.

After a fan tweeted Dana White on Sunday asking the UFC President who Rua’s next opponent would be, Dana White responded saying Shogun Rua would be taking on fellow Brazilian Thiago Silva (14-3 1 NC).

Silva recently dropped a decision loss to Alexander Gustafsson at UFC on Fuel TV 2 after coming off a long layoff from an athletic suspension. Although having recently fought, Thiago Silva did not receive a medical suspension in the wake of his April 14 bout with Gustafsson.

No event, date or location has yet been announced for the light heavyweight bout between Shogun Rua and Thiago Silva.
