JACKSON, Tenn. – ProMMAnow.com is live and on the scene cageside for “XFC 17: Apocalypse” at the Oman Arena. The main event features a match-up between two of the organization’s top lightweights as Luciano Dos Santos looks to keep his winning streak intact against Eric Reynolds.

In the co-main event, former XFC featherweight champion Jarrod Card makes his bantamweight debut against Marlon Moraes. The card also features the highly anticipated women’s bout between Patricia Vidonic and Felice Herrig, as well as the inspirational and undefeated Nick Newell as he looks to stay undefeated against Chris Coggins.

Steven Durr vs. Michael Manley

Round 1 – Both guys miss with early jabs. Durr lands a nice right hand down the middle. Overhand right by Manley. Big leg kick by Durr. Manley comes back with a nice one-two combo. Lead left hook by Durr staggers Manley. He comes forward to land but eats a right hand as Manley recovers and fires. More kicks by Durr. Looping left hook just misses by Manley. Jab Durr. All standing action so far. Nice exchange in the middle of the cage. Durr scores again with a kick. Straight right by Durr, and another stinging kick. He’s blistering the leg of Manley. Manley bleeding now out of his nose as he eats another kick. Big right hand by Manley. Counter right hook lands for Durr as Manley misses with a jab. Stiff jab by Durr. Manley backing up now. Body kick by Durr. Manley loses his mouthpiece. Back to the action. Another big kick by Durr. Again. Manley returns fire with a kick of his own. Big exchange. Manley landed the cleaner shot. Round 2 – Durr starts with a kick. Manley fires back, then throws a three punch flurry. Nice left hook by Durr. Another leg kick hurts Manley. Durr ducks a right hand, shoots and gets a takedown. Durr goes to work on the body of Manley with elbows. He’s isolating an arm now. More shots to the body. Elbows to the thigh by Durr. He’s still working on an arm, but staying busy from the top with shots to the body. He’s in the half guard, looking to pass. Durr is punishing the body of Manley. Manley scrambles and retains full guard. Durr is pressing him on the cage now, still working the body. Manley is working his legs up high looking for a sub attempt. Durr is staying tight, still working the body. Big left hand from the top. Durr stacks Manley into the cage and is landing left hands. Manley is doing a pretty good job not eating flush shots but some are getting through. Manley kicks off to create space and get to his feet but Durr maintains top position. Durr tries to pass. Round 3 – Jab Durr. He follows up with another kick. Again. Right hand lands for Manley. Durr changes levels and shoots again. Another takedown. He’s in side control now. Manley scrambles, Durr now in half guard. Durr passes again to sidemount. Manley works and retains full guard. Durr with hammerfists from the top. Now to the body. Body-head by Durr now. He’s staying really busy from the top. Manley looking for a triangle but Durr recognizes the danger early. More punishment to the body by Durr. He’s dominating this fight. Durr scores with right hands now from the top. Manley bleeding badly again. Durr is pounding on the body again. Big right hand. End of the bout. Bradley Stafford vs. Tommy Roberts

Round 1 – Touch of gloves. Both guys throw kicks to start. Stafford catches a Roberts kick and gets the takedown. Side control for Stafford. North-South now. Roberts sweeps, but Stafford scrambles back and takes top control. Stafford takes the back of Roberts and is looking for the rear naked choke. Roberts tries to turn into the choke, but Stafford is back on top. Roberts working on the left arm of Stafford looking for the kimura. Stafford pulls his arm free and lands some short elbows. Stafford with right hands to the body. Roberts looking for the triangle attempt. The referee calls for action. First round goes to Bradley Stafford, 10-9.

Round 2 – Kick by Stafford. To the clinch. Roberts puts Stafford on the cage, but then gives up an easy takedown. Left hands to the body by Stafford. The referee calls for action. Roberts fires off a couple of punches from his back. The referee has seen enough and stands them up. Stafford kicks again. Roberts catches it but ends up on his back again. Stafford lands in side control and is scoring with knees to the body. Roberts retains guard and ties up Stafford for the moment as the referee looks on. He looks close to standing it up. Roberts almost gets the sweep, but Stafford bases and prevents it. Big elbow from Stafford. The referee stands them back up. Roberts goes high with his kick and just misses. Stafford takes him back to the mat. Round over. 10-9 Stafford.

Round 3 – Touch of gloves to start the final round. Roberts is feinting but needs to get busy. He’s way behind in this one. Both guys land kicks. Again. Roberts with a nice leg kick. Stafford comes forward with a leaping right hand. Roberts closes and clinches, then delivers some big knees up the middle. More knees by Roberts. They break and Roberts takes the center of the cage. He lands another stiff kick. Stafford coming forward now. Roberts changes levels and shoots, then pulls guard against the cage. Not much action with Stafford on top. The referee calls for action. Stafford responds, but it’s not enough. Back to the feet after the referee stands them up. Stafford shoots in and slips. As he hits the mat, Roberts lands a knee to the head. The fight is stopped and a point is deducted for the illegal blow. After the restart, Stafford shoots but gets stuffed. He’s still got a leg as Roberts lands to the body. A scramble ensues, and it’s Stafford that ends up on top. Roberts goes for the triangle and it looks tight. Stafford stands and tries to pull free. Roberts can’t secure the submission. Teddy Holder vs. Bobby Carter

Round 1 – Holder lands a kick then shoots. He elevates Carter and lands a monstrous slam! Holder lands in side control. Carter has his neck looking for the guillotine, but it will be hard to finish with Holder in side mount. He pulls his head free and has Carter against the cage. Big knees to the body. More knees. Big right hand from the top. Holder posturing and punishing. Carter throws up his legs but has nothing. Holder gets tight and starts landing short elbows. Carter ties up the arms of Holder looking to stop the punishment. Holder transitions, secures and arm and goes to the mat for the armbar. He extends the arm and the tap comes immediately.

Joel Cooper vs. Amaechi Oselukwue

Round 1 – A.O. lands an early kick. Again. He’s getting off with his kicks early. Big punches, nice exchange. Clinch, knees by A.O. He’s blitzing Cooper. After a stall they restart. Big right hand by Cooper. A.O. lands another kick, then drives Cooper into the cage. Cooper fights off the takedown attempt by skipping on one leg across the cage. A.O. stays relentless, then lands a huge knee to the groin. Cooper is down and in a lot of pain. The referee tells him to take his time, but he’s hurt pretty bad. The referee rules it unintentional as the crowd comes alive. Cooper is standing now but still in pain. A.O. feinting now. He fakes the leg kick, then lands a jumping knee. Spinning backfist just misses by A.O. He’s really mixing up his strikes. A.O. fires down the middle but misses. They clinch briefly then break. A.O. clinches then goes for a throw, but ends up on the bottom. He gets back to his feet and they swing for the fences until the bell. What a round. ProMMAnow scores Round 1 for A.O. 10-9.

Round 2 – Touch of gloves to start. Cooper looks to establish his jab. A.O. fakes low and goes high and lands. Cooper is a tough kid. Big knee up the middle. Flying kick by A.O. and Cooper lands on top after it hits the mat. A.O. looking to use the cage to get back to his feet. Cooper snatches his hips out and maintains top control. A.O. gives up his back trying to stand and Cooper takes his back. Cooper is a Jackson Tennessee guy and the crowd is going nuts. He has his hooks in and is landing with left hands. A.O. manages to defend and gets back to his feet. A.O. puts Cooper on the cage now and locks up the plum clinch. He lands a knee, then both guys swing for the fences. What a way to kick off the televised card. Cooper lands his best punch of the night countering a kick with a straight right hand. Cooper scores to the body with a kick of his own. A.O. with a spinning back kick that doesn’t look like it lands but Cooper responds like it caught him low. The fight is stopped and A.O. is warned again. After the restart, Cooper lands another big right hand down the middle. A.O. responds with another big kick. These guys are banging. A.O. Goes for a leaping kick and slips. Cooper goes to the mat and takes his back but time is running down. A.O. reverses and goes ballistic from the top until the bell sounds. Round 2 goes to Cooper, 10-9.

Round 3 – Cooper connects with a right. A.O. with more kicks again. A.O. is slipping in the cage. He shakes his head and gets back to work. Another nice right hand from Cooper. Cooper lands a right hand, and this time it’s A.O. that gets caught with an unintentional blow. The eye poke stops the action for a moment, but we are back on. Good kick from Cooper. Knee from A.O. He tries to trip Cooper but can’t get the fight to the mat. Cooper on the other hand gets his takedown. He goes for a leg and slips, giving up position. A.O. can’t scramble to his feet, and Cooper scrambles, taking the back of A.O. He’s got one hook in and is looking for the second. Close third round. A.O. is trying to tie up Cooper looking for the ref to stand them up. Cooper gets reversed soon after and now A.O. is on top. Cooper stays busy on his back and sweeps, landing in the full guard of A.O. A.O. sweeps and gets to full mount. He can’t maintain control though as Cooper reverses and finishes on top. I am going with Cooper in the third, and the fight overall 29-28.

Ronnie Rogers vs. Jason Wood

Round 1 – Wood with a kick to start. Rogers with a big right hand. Wood ducks under, shoots and then secures an early takedown. Wood looking to pass to the right but the cage prevents it. Rogers scrambles to his feet then takes Wood down. He’s in side control and going to work looking to isolate an arm. Wood retains guard and locks up a guillotine. It’s tight. Rogers is stuck in the guard of Wood, but manages to free his head. Rogers creates a little space and lands a left hand. Wood is very active off his back looking for openings for a sub attempt. Rogers has a lot of experience and recognizes the danger. He postures and lands another left hand. They stand for a moment, and Rogers grabs a quillotine and drops to his back looking to finish. Wood pulls free and now has his chance to do some work from the top. He gets busy with left hands. Wood is bleeding from his nose, but is doing significant work from the top. Body-head from Wood. Rogers kicks off and Wood stands over him looking for an opening. Rogers lands a big upkick but Wood walks right through it. He takes the back of Rogers as time runs down. Very close round. ProMMAnow scores Round 1 for Wood, 10-9.

Round 2 – Wood coming forward. Huge exchange in the middle of the cage. Rogers lands a big right hand. Wood looks for the takedown, but can’t get it. They hit the mat for a moment then break. Wood sets up his shot and drives Rogers into the cage but ends up on his back. Wood again looking for subs from his back. He looks for an arm but Rogers recognizes the danger and postures out. Short hammerfists from Rogers now. Wood is staying active on his back as Rogers continues to land. Rogers makes a mistake and Wood pounces, securing the neck and looking to finish by guillotine. It’s tight!! The tap comes and it’s over.

Charles Blanchard vs. Johnny Davis

Round 1 – Davis jab to start. Overhand right by Davis. Blanchard counters with a right of his own. Blanchard shoots, then clinches. He puts Davis on the cage and scores inside with short left hands. Nice dirty boxing by Blanchard. He’s doing work inside with short left hands. Davis drops and grabs a single, but Blanchard pulls out and takes the center of the cage. Davis scores with a leg kick. Blanchard lands a looping right hand, then puts Davis on the cage again. Big knee up the middle by Blanchard. The corner of Davis is telling him to get off the cage. Blanchard is still landing big left hands inside. He pulls Davis off the cage and puts him on his back. He’s got the back of Davis now. Davis trying to turn into Blanchard. Davis still working to reverse. Good control by Blanchard. He has both hooks in now with 1:30 to go. Davis stands with Blanchard on his back. He shakes him off, but Blanchard puts him on the cage again. He steps away and takes the center of the cage again. Davis with a leg kick. Nice snapping jab by Blanchard. End of round. Round 2 – Big kick to start by Davis. He has a sense of urgency to start the second. Blanchard closes, clinches, and puts Davis on the cage. More dirty boxing by Blanchard. They exchange knees. Davis shrugs him off and separates. Davis goes high with his kick but it’s blocked. Davis flashes his jab then uncorks his overhand right. Blanchard partially blocks it. Back to the kicks for Davis. Looping left hand, then a right that connects for Davis. Now he has Blanchard on the cage. He drops for a takedown but can’t get it. Blanchard shoots for a single, but Davis defends. Blanchard puts Davis back on the cage again. Davis fires off a knee. Another. Blanchard is slowing in this one. Blanchard separates throwing a left on his way out. Jab Blanchard. Davis closes. Another jab by Blanchard. Davis with another kick. Davis jabs, Blanchard returns fire with a left hook. Another stiff jab for Blanchard. Nice right hand by Davis. Close round, but I score it for Davis.

Round 3 – Leg kick by Davis. Blanchard catches it but can’t get the fight to the ground. Davis with another kick and he slips to the mat. Nice counter right hand by Blanchard. Davis looks hurt. He shoots but is stuffed. Blanchard with a couple of nice right hands. Davis is bloodied now. He stands back up but Blanchard is landing big shots with Davis on the cage. Blanchard scores again with his left hands. More dirty boxing inside. Davis returns fire. The blood is coming from under the eye of Davis. Big kick by Davis. Blanchard puts Davis back on the cage and lands a big elbow. Blanchard uncorks a big left hook on the break, then puts Davis back on the cage. Again Blanchard lands a left hand on his way out. Davis comes forward, but gets put back on the cage. Blanchard is dictating the pace of the fight as time winds down. Knees by Davis inside. Both fighters swing for the fences at the bell.

Patricia Vidonic vs. Felice Herrig

Felice controlled the action most of the fight. She got repeated takedowns, used some ground and pound and used knees in the clinch. She also did better with her striking what little there was.

Chris Coggins vs. Nick Newell

Round 1 – Big kick by Newell to start. Coggins unloads with a right hand. He then lands a kick right up the middle. Coggins is warned and the fight is back on after the low blow. Coggins is feinting with his kick, then unleashes a nice punch-kick combo. Newell clinches, and works Coggins to the mat for his first takedown. Newell with a left elbow from the top. Coggins is looking for an opening for a submission. Great control by Newell, he lands some shots, then goes for a heel hook. He drops to his back and is looking to finish. It’s tight. Coggins fights free but has Newell all over him against the cage. Newell lands to the body with a right hand. Coggins scores with a left from this back. Coggins working some rubber guard now trying to control the left arm of Newell. He goes for the arm now, but Newell recognizes the danger and pulls free. Nice right hands from Newell from the top. This kid has nice top control. Coggins is staying busy from his back, firing off short elbows that are landing. More elbows from Coggins on the bottom. Newell comes back with right hands to the body. Coggins goes for the armbar with less than 10 seconds to go. He’s cranking, but time runs out. Round 1 goes to Newell, 10-9 on our card.

Round 2 – Touch of gloves. They exchange kicks and Coggins then shoots in and scores a takedown. Newell looks to sweep but is shut down by Coggins. After a scramble, Coggins is in the full guard of Newell. Coggins scores with a left hand, then dives in with a big right. Newell fires off an elbow, then uses the cage to stand. Coggins takes his back and is looking for the rear naked choke. Newell stands with Coggins on his back. Newell drops to the mat trying to shake Coggins off. Coggins still has his back. He’s striking to open up the choke. Coggins still looking for the rear naked choke. He has it and it looks very tight. Newell is hanging tough but the choke is tight. Somehow he survives. Wow! He’s not out of danger just yet though. Coggins still has control from his back. Newell stands again with Coggins on his back throttling the choke. They hit the mat and somehow Newell is still surviving. The heart on this guy to survive that choke again. 20 seconds to go. Newell survives to see round 3. Coggins takes round 2.

Round 3 – Nick scores with a big right hand. He follows up with a kick. Coggins comes back with a left hand, then drives for a takedown. Newell locks up a guillotine and takes the fight to the mat. Coggins defends, rolls to his knees and is out of trouble. North-South and Newell still has the neck of Coggins. Newell scrambles to take the back, but Coggins gets his back on the mat and retains full guard. Newell on top now. Coggins working for wrist control on the right arm of Newell. Newell goes to work on the body now with right hands. Short hammerfist from Newell. Newell with an elbow from the top. Coggins is trying to use the cage to get to his feet but is getting smothered by Newell. Ground and pound now from Newell. Coggins is landing with right hands from his back but Newell is grinding him out from the top. After a stall, the referee stands them up. They exchange kicks after the restart. Again. Newell snatches a single and puts Coggins on his back again. Coggins throws his legs up for a last second submission but it’s not to be. Marlon Moraes vs. Jarrod Card

Round 1 – Touch of gloves to start. Jab Card. Moraes lands a huge left hand rocks Card. He follows up with a flurry. Card comes back and lands a right. Moraes fires off a big uppercut that lands up the middle. Card is hurt and shoots but is stuffed. They clinch, and Moraes uncorks a thundering left hook that puts Card out on his feet. He hits the canvas and it’s over in less than a minute.

Luciano Dos Santos (155lbs) vs. Eric Reynolds

Round 1 – Touch of gloves to start. Reynolds with a kick but it’s checked. He gets the next one in. Reynolds with a nice one-two, then follows up with another kick. Dos Santos staying patient. He fires a jab straight down the middle. More stinging kicks from Reynolds. He then shoots but is stuffed. Dos Santos clinches and fires off a couple of knees. Reynolds gets on his bike and gets out of there. Reynolds with more kicks after the reset. Dos Santos lands another big jab, then follows up with a kick. Looping punches by Reynolds, while Dos Santos is scoring with straight punches. Big knee inside by Dos Santos. Looping right hand lands over the top for Reynolds. More knees from Dos Santos. Dos Santos is doing work inside, but Reynolds is getting the better outside. Dos Santos lands to the crotch, and the fight is stopped for the moment. Dos Santos is given a warning from the referee. Back to the action. Inside leg kick by Dos Santos after the restart. Reynolds unleashes a big right hook, then goes to the body. Dos Stantos scores with a short elbow. Another lead right hand by Reynolds. He closes and eats a right hand from Dos Santos. To the clinch, Dos Santos goes to work with knees. Uppercut lands for Reynolds. Reynolds to the body now. More knees from Dos Santos. Reynolds lands a short elbow, then dives into the legs of Dos Santos. A short does of ground and pound by Dos Santos closes the round out. Close round. Round 2 – Jabs from both guys land. Knee Dos Santos. Kick for Reynolds. Another. He fires off a head kick that’s blocked. Nice jab by Dos Santos. Reynolds comes back and misses with his jab but follows up with a hard kick to the body. Lead right hand for Reynolds. He likes to throw that from crazy angles. Looping right hand by Reynolds. Dos Santos with a nice left hook. Big knee in close. Again by Dos Santos. Dos Santos throws a spinning backfist that Reynolds ducks. Reynolds capitalizes changing levels and getting the takedown. Back to the feet. Dos Santos goes to the plum and lands a series of stiff knees up the middle. Reynolds retaliates with a flurry of body shots. He then shoots but gets stuffed. Dos Santos puts Reynolds on the cage and goes to work with knees and elbows. Reynolds retreats to the center of the cage and rolls as Dos Santos takes the fight to the mat. Dos Santos posturing now and landing big strikes from the top. Now elbows. He’s grinding this round out with punishment from the top. Dos Santos stands and steps away. Reynolds gets tho his feet and fires off a left hook just before the bell. Close round, but I’m going with Dos Santos, 10-9.

Round 3 – Reynolds goes right back to that right hand. Inside leg kick, then left hook by Reynolds. To the body, then kick from Reynolds. Left hook from Reynolds. Jab now from Dos Santos. Reynolds lands a big right hand that hurts Dos Santos. Left hook from Reynolds. He’s landing at will from the outside. Dos Santos lands a couple of kicks but is doing better when he can get inside, which has been rare this round. Five punch combo for Reynolds. He’s taking control of this bout now. Jab Dos Santos. Reynolds with a slapping left hook. Dos Santos finally closes, clinches and lands a few knees. Reynolds gets out of range and resumes landing his strikes from outside. Just as I type that, he shoots and ends up on his back, but only for a moment. Back to the feet. Reynolds changes stances now. Spinning backfist from Reynolds connects. He then shoots but is stuffed again by Dos Santos. Reynolds with a wild spinning kick that misses. They tie up and swing for the fences to the bell. Both guys raise their hands. ProMMAnow scores the final round for Reynolds, and the fight overall to him as well 29-28.
