Spike TV to feature new Bellator reality series

Spike TV and Bellator Fighting Championships are teaming up with eight-time Emmy Award winning producer Bertram van Munster, creator of “The Amazing Race,” to produce a new unscripted mixed martial arts reality show.

The one-hour original Spike series will premiere in 2013 and will showcase fighters from Bellator Fighting Championships. Spike is keeping details and the exact nature of the show a closely guarded secret until later this year.

A former partner of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, contractually Spike TV is unable to air MMA programming from any other promotion until 2013. In the meantime, Spike TV will continue to air reruns of UFC programming while Spike.com continues to air Bellator preliminary cards.

Bjorn Rebney, Bellator CEO and Founder, commented:

“We are thrilled to partner with an industry legend such as van Munster, whose creativity and ingenuity will help expose Bellator to an expanded new audience next year on Spike.”
