The UFC announced today that top welterweights Martin Kampmann and Jake Ellenberger will fight in what will be the main event of the TUF Live Finale that’ll take place on June 1st. This is a very important fight in the welterweight division as the winner of this bout could be first in line to fight the UFC interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit if Georges St. Pierre isn’t able to fight by the end of this year.

Martin Kampmann(19-5) is coming off an outstanding come from behind victory over former number one contender Thiago Alves last month. Kampmann was losing on the scorecards when he was stunned by Alves, but managed to secure a guillotine choke as Alves went for a takedown to get the submission victory in the third round. Kampmann holds a win over Carlos Condit and has won his last two fights after dropping back to back controversial decision losses.

Jake Ellenberger(27-5) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Diego Sanchez last month, and has won his last six consecutive fights after losing his UFC debut in a razor close split decision against Carlos Condit. Ellenberger took that fight on two weeks notice and almost took Condit out early in the fight, but Condit survived and was able steal the fight on heart and conditioning.

This will be an outstanding fight as both fighters are very exciting and well rounded. Ellenberger has the edge in power, but Kampmann is the more technical striker. Kampmann has the edge in submissions while Ellenberger is probably the better wrestler.

The best thing about this fight is that it will be a five round affair!
