The UFC announced a good lightweight scrap today with former number one contender Gray Maynard taking on Clay Guida in the main event of the UFC on FX 4 event. The event will take place on June 22nd, but the city and venue will be named at a later date.

Gray Maynard(10-1-1, 1NC) is coming off the first professional loss of his career as he was stopped by former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar via TKO at UFC 136 last October. Maynard has previously fought Edgar to a split draw earlier in the year. He’ll be looking to get right back into title contention with Edgar losing the title to Ben Henderson last month.

Clay Guida(29-12) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Ben Henderson in November of last year. The energetic Guida had rattled off four consecutive wins including a unanimous decision win over Anthony Pettis. He’ll be looking to put himself back into the mix with a win over the former number one contender.

It’s a match up of two fighters with wrestling bases, but Maynard will have the edge in power and size while being the better wrestler on paper. Be sure to stay tuned to Pro MMA Now as more information about this event is released.
