Lumumba Sayers made a quick statement against Scott Smith.

Sayers used his hands to setup his ground game, and then put Smith away with a guillotine choke just 94 seconds into the fight.

Sayers started quickly with his accurate boxing, landing a one-two combination right out of the gate. He then avoided an overhand right from Smith, stepped forward and delivered a big body shot. Sayers then went to his wrestling.

Sayers ducked in and secured a double-leg takedown, and then quickly took the back of Smith. After letting Smith back to his feet, Sayers fired off a flurry of punches that put Smith on the cage. Sayers locked his hands and elevated Smith, slamming him viciously to the mat. Smith attempted a guillotine from his back, but it was Sayers that would reverse position and take the neck of Smith with a front headlock. He then pulled guard locking up the guillotine, and got the tap within seconds.

Lumumba Sayers improves to 6-2 (2-1 SF) with the win, and extends his Strikeforce win streak to two.

The loss for Scott Smith (17-10 MMA, 1-3 UFC, 3-5 SF) marks his fourth consecutive loss.
