SportFight announces Zapata vs Gardner for Alabama show

Atlanta, GA February 24th, 2012- In twenty eight days SportFight X will invade the Von Braun Center with professional Mixed Martial Arts featuring top contenders from Alabama and around the Southeast. As the promotion ties up loose ends in the fight card, fighters are preparing for what will be a night to remember in their career.

Today the company announced another professional fight in the welterweight division as Sasuke Zapata will face Paul Gardener. The fight was made official last week between the two warriors. This will mark the return of Zapata and Gardener as both last competed in April of 2011.

Sasuke Zapata is no newcomer to the Alabama fight scene. Zapata sports a professional record of (5-3). Zapata is well known for taking fights deep into late rounds and edging out the win. All five of his wins have been by submission. His losses have come from well known fighters including former UFC star Rich Clementi and Bellator veteran William Kuhn.

Paul Gardner (2-0) of Nashville MMA will make his way two hours South with intentions of ending the Zapata early. Gardner has never been out of the first round as a professional and has ended both fights with heavy hands. In his first contest he ended it by TKO referee stoppage and the second victory came by submission due to strikes.

SportFight X also unveiled the Josh Senkbeil vs Maurice Tunstall fight that will take place in the light heavyweight division. SFX Adam Gibbs said “This could very well be the fight of the night. Senkbeil has fought for us twice and delivered every time. As a fan he is one of my favorite fighters, period”.

Josh Senkbeil is the current fullback at the University of West Alabama. Senkbeil has entered the SFX cage on two separate occasions and left victorious. At the SportFight X Redline Grand Prix he won a spilt decision against Aaron Black and managed to score a unanimous decision at SportFight X “Middle Tennessee Mayhem” against Ryan Banks.

Maurice Tunstall trains under Ron Dayley at SSF in Clarksville, TN who has trained many UFC fighters. Tunstall is a hard hitting LHW who has stopped two of his opponents within the 1:30 mark by submission strikes.
