It seems as though the UFC is finally listening to folk like myself that have encouraged placing smaller weight classes on their big FOX events. The UFC has annouced its second lightweight bout for the UFC on FOX 3 event that will take place on May 5th at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. TUF 13 winner Tony Ferguson has verbally agreed to face MMA veteran Dennis Hallman in what should be an entertaining scrap.

Tony Ferguson (13-2) is coming off an action packed unanimous decision win over MMA veteran Yves Edwards at the TUF 14 Finale last December. Ferguson is now (3-0) inside the octagon with 2 finishes under his belt while currently riding a six fight winning streak dating back to 2009.

Dennis Hallman (51-14-2, 1NC) is coming off a quick submission victory over John Makdessi back at UFC 140. Hallman has won three out of his last four fights with two finishes in that span. The lone loss coming against Brian Ebersole at UFC 133. Hallman sported some extra small speedo like trunks in which UFC President Dana White awarded Ebersole a bonus for ending the fight quickly, and getting those small shorts off the telecast. Hallman is notable for having two submission wins over former welterweight champion and UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes.

The tentative fight card is below:

  • Nate Diaz vs. Jim Miller
  • Tony Ferguson vs. Dennis Hallman
  • John Dodson vs. Darren Uyenoyama
