If you blinked you may have missed it.

Johny Hendricks needed a mere 12 seconds to dispatch the second best welterweight in the world, launching a looping lead left hand that flattened Jon Fitch just moments into their welterweight contender bout.

Fitch came out quick, taking the center of the cage and flashing his jab to start the bout. Hendricks deftly avoided the strikes, and then proceeded to walk Fitch down before unleashing the devastating left hand that would prove to finish the bout. As Fitch hit the canvas, Hendricks added one final left hand before the bout could be halted, but there was no doubt that the first shot effectively ended the contest.

“I feel awesome,” Hendricks said. “I’ve been telling everyone I have a left hand. I knew if I landed it, I could knock him out.”

Hendricks (12-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) moves one step closer to a title shot with the dominating performance.
