The MMA Outsider Podcast Episode 32 – Strikeforce Preview and Tyron Woodley Interview

Is it true? The MMA Outsider finally got it’s crap together again and booked a guest? Why yes it is. This week we talked to Strikeforce welterweight contender Tyron Woodley (9-0), who will square off with Canadian prospect Jordan Mein on Jan. 7 in Las Vegas as part of Strikeforce’s televised card on Showtime. He also talks about his new gym (American Top Team Evolution in Rock Hill, Mo., near St. Louis) and the fight with Nick Diaz that never happened — at least not yet.

The UFC is finally taking a damn break this weekend, but we’ll still be busy talking about the Strikeforce lightweight title fight this weekend between champion Gilbert Melendez and the challenger — a prestigious Outsider guest — Jorge Masvidal.

The big news didn’t happen in the cage, though. Instead it popped up on Twitter. Former WEC bantamweight champion Miguel Torres got fired by UFC President Dana White for making a rape van joke. I understand, though. Tis the season for sports executives to make irrational decisions. NBA commissioner David Stern vetoed a trade and NFL czar Roger Goodell I’m sure is off somewhere fining and suspending someone who thought you could actually tackle people in the sport of football. Will this news finally push John Buhl onto Richard Mann’s UFC haterade bandwagon? It might. Stay tuned.
