ProMMAnow.com (www.prommanow.com) spoke with top 125-pound prospect Dustin Ortiz Sunday evening about his TKO win over Josh Rave Friday night at Tachi Palace Fights 11 in Lemoore, Calif.
Ortiz (8-1) took the fight on short notice after Rave’s original opponent, Tachi Palace Fights flyweight champion Ian McCall, was forced to withdraw due to a rib injury.
It was a stiff test for Ortiz, who only turned pro last year, while Rave, with a record of 18-9, has been fighting professionally since 2003. As Ortiz so aptly put, “He has more losses than I have fights.”
Ortiz talked about the fight, coming back from trouble in the second round, as well as the rather strange ending and why the referee stopped the fight when he did.
Ortiz also talked about his fight with McCall earlier this year, what it was like fighting the man many consider the top flyweight in the world so early in his career and what he took away from that fight.
Ortiz also shared his thoughts on the UFC adding a 125-pound division and revealed when we might see him back in the Tachi cage. Finally, Ortiz set the record straight on his training situation, working with Duke Roufus and his relationship with Nashville MMA.

I was at this fight. great back and forth action and thought it was fight of the night. Rave is definitely one tough customer.
