MOLINE, Ill. — “Pro Elite: Big Guns”  takes place this evening at the iWireless Center in Moline, Ill., and features the return of former UFC heavyweight champions Andrei Arlovski and Tim Sylvia. The card also features Reagan Penn, the brother of former two-division UFC champ B.J. Penn, in what will be his second professional bout.  Also on the card is the quarterfinal round of a Pro Elite heavyweight tournament.

“Pro Elite: Big Guns” will broadcast LIVE on HDNet starting at 9 p.m. ET (6 p.m. PT). ProMMAnow.com (www.prommanow.com) will provide LIVE results and play-by-play commentary.

Richard Odoms vs. Rod Housley

Round 1 – Todd Fredrickson is the referee. Odoms is the odds favorite. Odoms putting a feeling jab out there, misses a leg kick. Feints from Odoms, he backs Housley to the cage and lands one on the chin, they tie up as Odoms presses him to the cage, big right elbow. Odoms with a body lock, putting some knees on Housley’s thighs. Housley with a knee. Odoms hammerfists his thigh. Housley gets off the cage and backs out to the center. They trade punches. Jab from Odoms. Right to the body. He backs Housley to the cage. Hammerfists to the thigh. Housley with a body lock, but lets it go and backs out to the center. Left hand from Odoms, body shot. Knee from Housley. Jab and inside leg kick from Odoms. Big body kick, now with the other leg, leg kick and Housley shoots and gets Odoms down with only 10 seconds left he lands an elbow or two from side control. Round 2 – Touch gloves. Leg kick from Odoms, again. Right from Housley, Odoms lands an inside leg kick that causes Housley to fall to the ground in front of him. Odoms takes advantage and puts Housley flat on his back inside his full guard. Housley gets to his knees as he tries to put Odoms down, he presses him to the cage and lands several punches as Odoms gets to his feet. Housley pressing him to the cage, leaning on him with knees and calf kicks. Ref separates them and restarts in the center. Odoms throws a jab and Housley takes a thumb in the eye, earning him a time out. Ref restarts the action. Housley by the way is 43 years old. Jabs from Housley, he eats a couple leg kicks. Housley shoots, stuffed, Odoms spins around and takes his back as Housley turtles. Odoms gives him a knee to the thigh. Knee to the shoulder. Odoms with body shots as Housley tries to put Odoms down. Round 3 – Housley dodges a leg kick. They tie up and Housley pushes Odoms against the cage, gives him a knee to the thigh, leaning on Odoms. They’re jockeying for position, exchange knees, elbow from Odoms. Housley goes for Odoms’ back but Odoms uses a kimura to put him down. Housley turtles up as Odoms punches the side of his head. Housley grabs Odoms’ leg. Odoms continues to punish Housley. Odoms stands up and the ref lets Housley up with one minute to go. Housley with a one two, ties Odoms up but gets put on his back by Odoms. Odoms in side control, now in north-south as Housley gets to his knees. Cody Griffin vs. Justyn Riley

Round 1 – Griffin walks out to “Ice Ice Baby”. Riley flashes a jab. Left from Griffin. Leg kick Riley, leg kick Griffin, again. Griffin starts swinging and Riley throws a knee but gets but on his back. Griffin turtles up as Riley attacks with knees to the body, punches to the body and side of the head. Riley ‘s assault keeps Griffin defenseless, knees and punches over and over. Griffin covers up when he can. He finally gets to his feet as Riley hunts, lands a body kick, leg kick. He’s moving into Riley’s power right. Big leg kick from Riley. ProMMAnow.com scores the round 10-9 for Riley.

Round 2 – Leg kick from Riley. Again. Griffin moving into Riley’s power hand again. Big leg kick from Riley, he grabs a collar tie, throws a knee. Griffin ends up on top on the ground but Riley sweeps with a kimura and is back on top of Griffin in north-south as Griffin grabs a single. Big knee from Riley puts Griffin flat on his back. Griffin gives up his back and eats some big punches to the side of the head. Riley has back mount, landing punches, looks for the choke but time runs out. Round 3 – Leg kick from Griffin. Big right from Griffin but Riley grabs a collar tie and lands some big knees. Griffin rallies with big punches, he connects with a few right hands, Riley goes down and Griffin finishes him off with big right hands to the face and body. Griffin took this fight on only eight days notice and moves along to the semifinals.

Ed Carpenter vs. Jake Heun

Round 1 – Big leg kick from Heun. Carpenter pushes him to the cage. Looks to drop levels but Heun holds him firm. Knee from Carpenter to the body, to the thigh. Heun with a knee to the thigh, again. They jockey for position in the clinch. Carpenter dumps him on his back. Heun looking for a kimura. Heun’s coach, Jeremy Horn, giving advice from the corner. Heun punches from the bottom with a full guard. Heun makes  it to his feet, throws a left high kick then follows it up with a right that hurts Carpenter. He goes down and Heun finishes him off with several punches.

Mark Ellis vs. Ryan Martinez

Round 1 – Touch gloves. Leg kick from Ellis. He misses a one two. Jab from Ellis. Long feeling out period. Ellis shoots from way out, stuffed, and Martinez gives him some hammerfists to the head to think about. Ellis gets to his feet but pays for it with Punches. Ellis misses a head kick.  Ellis shoots, stuffed, he eats a big knee that stands him upright. They square up again. Not much action. ProMMAnow.com scores the round 10-9 for Martinez.

Round 2 – Ben Askren in Ellis’ corner giving encouragement. Martinez takes the center of the cage and turns around as Ellis circles. Ellis shoots from way outside, stuffed, eats an illegal knee to the head while his knees are on the ground. Ref halts the action to give a warning. Martinez checks an inside thigh kick. Martinez slips a right. The crowd getting restless at this slow pace. Ellis shoots again, stuffed for the fourth time. “Mark, lets go, stop holding his hand,” said Askren. Ellis lands a right then goes back to dancing around the outside. Martinez swings big as Ellis slips it. Less than a minute to go in the round. The crowd erupts in boos as the bell sounds. Round 3 – Ellis shoots, sprawl by Martinez. They stand back up. Ellis slips as he fakes a shot. Ellis shoots, stuffed, as Martinez holds a front headlock. It’s a stalemate right now as the clock counts down to 1:30 in the lackluster affair. Ref stands them up. Ellis lunges with a right and slips on the logo to the ground. Ellis shoots, stuffed. Martinez misses a kick and sweeps his back leg as time runs out. Ellis is wearing a RYU shirt. ProMMAnow.com scores the fight 10-9 for Martinez.

Reagan Penn vs. Evan Cutts

Round 1 – BJ is in Reagan’s corner. Touch gloves. Reagan with the single leg immediately as he ducks Cutts’ punch. Cutts is back up as Reagan holds a front headlock. Knees from Cutts from the clinch. Penn with knees and body shots as they jockey for position. BJ tells his brother to get off the cage. Cutts holding a double and dumps Penn on his butt. Cutts in side control. Penn gets to his feet and puts Cutts down. Penn inside his half guard. Cutts makes it up and sits Penn on his butt. Penn has a lump on his forehead. Penn’s back to the cage, he backs away and lands a couple big lefts to the chin, a right, big punches, and he puts Cutts on his butt. Penn was winging those punches. They toll on the ground as they get to their knees. Cutts goes for a D’arce but Penn is up and free. Knees from Cutts. Penn’s back to the cage as Cutts dumps him. Penn looking tired in this fast paced fight. Penn gets to his feet as he presses Cutts to the cage. ProMMAnow.com scores it 10-9 for Cutts.

Round 2 – Penn takes a deep breath. Cutts with the jab, body kick. Penn  eats a combo, his hands a re down as he looks tired. Penn throws sloppy punches and gets dumped on his butt. (Cesar Gracie had some good points about Reagan’s future — they need to join camps with Gracie). Cutts laying on some punches from top position inside Penn’s full guard. Cutts moves to side control. He ‘s dominating Penn this whole round so far. Cutts in side control now, gets full mount. Penn gives up his back. BJ screams to watch his neck. Body triangle by Cutts with a minute left in the round. Cutts flattens Penn out from back mount, dropping down the punches to the side of the head, they roll as he locks on the rear naked and time is out. ProMMAnow.com scores the round 10-9 for Cutts.

Round 3 – This is sad to watch to be honest. So much potential with Penn. Whatever they are doing their in Hilo just doesn’t seem to be working. Penn is completely exhausted. Cutts comes out with big punches, scoring. Leg kicks from Cutts. Penn wings punches, he slips and falls to the ground as Cutts pounces. Cutts on top, gets mount as Penn gives up his back. Cutts  locks on the body triangle, now full mount landing elbows and punches to the body. Penn’s corner is going crazy. Three minutes to go. Big hammerfists to the face from Cutts. Penn with half a butterfly guard. This is sad to watch. Penn makes it to his feet, takes some knees to the body. Cutts pushes him to the cage. Cutts with a knee to the face, another one as Penn drops to the canvas on his bottom holding onto Cutts leg. Penn is in pure defensive mode. Penn has closed full guard. Penn gets to his knees as Cutts locks on a front headlock. Penn stands in the clinch as time runs out. ProMMAnow.com scores the round 10-9 for Cutts and the fight 29-28 for Cutts. That was the first time Cutts had ever fought a five minute round. Penn can’t even stand he is so exhausted.

Andrei Arlovski vs. Travis Fulton

Round 1 – Fulton has has about 300 more fights than Arlovski. Leg kick inside from Fulton. Fulton swings and misses. Leg kick Fulton. Arlovski swings, Fulton ducks, pushes Pitbull to the cage. Fulton fought 32 times one year. Knee to the body from Arlovski as Fulton leans on him against the cage. Ref separates them. Arlovski with an uppercut. Leg kick from Arlovski. Jab from Fulton. Right hand from Arlovski. Leg kick from Arlovski. Fulton misses a head kick. Leg kick from Fulton. Arlovski with a leg kick. Leg kick from Arlovski. Again. Again. Right hand from Arlovski. Round 2 – Leg kick from Arlovski as Fulton pushes him to the cage. Arlovski pushes Fulton back up against the cage. Arlovski puts Fulton on his back, holding his foot. Fulton gets free and stands up. Left hook from Arlovski. Inside leg kick from Fulton. Slow pace. Arlovski standing straight up. Inside leg kick from Arlovski. Inside leg kick Arlovski. Leg kick from Arlovski then a jab. Round 3 – It’s really sad to see Arlovski fight like this.  Jackson told Arlovski to go knock him out and have fun doing it. Leg kick from Arlovski as Fulton shoots. Arlovski stuffs it and takes side control. Fulton scrambles and Arlovski lets him up. Leg kick from Arlovski, again, again. Fulton shoots as Andrei kicks. He gets stuffed and put onto his back.  Arlovski in side control. Punches from Arlovski. He tries to mount but is blocked. Fulton hanging on to prevent damage, he tries to get up but Arlovski flattens him back down. Even the announcers are complaining how boring the fight is. Elbows to the body from Arlovski, then a hammerfist and he lets Fulton up. The crowd wants action with 30 seconds left, but no one has thrown a punch yet with 10 seconds to go. Fulton with a leg kick. Arlovski throws a head kick with one second to go and Fulton is knocked unconscious. One kick KO with one second left. LOL ahahahahaha too funny!  Imagine the most boring fight in history… then with one second left Fulton is knocked completely unconscious. You couldn’t have scripted this. Greg Jackson and camp is cheering. Fulton may be seriously injured, let’s hope not. He has been out for quite a long time. Finally, Fulton is up and is okay.

Tim Sylvia vs. Andreas Kraniotakes

Round 1 – Arlovski looks to be in championship shape. Haven’t seen him look this fit since he was knocking fools out in the UFC. Two lefts from Sylvia. He comes in swinging and backs Kraniotakes to the cage. Tim roughing him up with rabbit punches. Knee from Sylvia, again. They jockey for position. Sylvia grabs a collar tie and lands a knee, another one. Miletich in Tim’s corner. Tim backs out with punches, he also gets caught with one or two and re-clinches to stop the shots. Miletich tells him to keep his chin down. Tim with underhooks and lands a knee to the body. Another knee. Body shot, knees to the thigh. Ref separates them. Spinning back elbow from Kraniotakes catches Sylvia. Sylvia grabs the back of his head and throws punches. Elbow from Sylva holding a the back of the head. Leaning on Kraniotakes against the cage. One minute to go. Elbow from Sylvia and body shots. Knee from Sylvia. Again. Kraniotakes drops levels looking for a single. Ten seconds left, he defends it and gives him a few punches to think about. ProMMAnow.com scores the round 10-9 for Sylva. Very cool to see Miletich in Tim’s corner.

Round 2 – The replay of that spinning elbow was beautiful. Tim took a good shot there which shows he is in great shape. Leg kick from Kraniotakes. Tim clinches and pushes him to the cage. Sylvia with a knee in the clinch. Knee to the thigh from Tim, again. Ref separates them. Right hand from Kraniotakes and Sylvia backs him up to the cage with underhooks. Knee to the thigh from Sylvia, knee to the body. Sylva is using his height and strength and weight effectively. Counter right from Tim lands solid. They clinch up, Tim backs him to the cage, gives him some knees to the thighs and leans on him against the cage. The crowd boos what they are seeing right now. Ref separates them. Downward elbow from Kraniotakes, they trade some big shots. Body kick from Sylvia. Kraniotakes shoots and Sylvia stuffs it and puts Kraniotakes on his back. Tim inside his full guard and time is out. Round 3 – I get a little sentimental seeing Miletich in the corner. Kraniotakes comes out and swings big. Leg kick. Sylvia with a combo and backs Kraniotakes to the cage, leaning on him. Knees to the thighs from Sylvia. Elbow from Kraniotakes. Sylvia controlling the action. Ref separates them. Sylvia blocks a head kick and they trade punches then Sylvia ties him up and pushes him to the cage. Knees from Sylvia. Body shots. Ref separates them. Kraniotakes lands a couple punches but Sylvia initiates the clinch and pushes him to the cage. Just over a minute left. Ref separates them again. Front kick from Kraniotakes, they clinch and trade knees and punches with some dirty boxing. Sylvia leaning on him against the cage again using that Randy Couture style. Sylvia grabs a collar tie and lands a couple knees. The bell sounds to a chorus of boos and three claps. When Randy Couture showed people you could win a fight by controlling them against the cage, using a little dirty boxing and staying just busy enough to keep scoring, a lot of people took that style and started using it. Tim is one of them. It can get you the win but it’s not very aesthetically pleasing to watch.

  2. That’s what I was thinking too, but I wanted to get your guys opinion first. At +285 odds, I think I’m going to throw $100 on Fulton.

    What about Kraniotakes? Anyone know much about him? Sylvia is washed up too and I was thinking of putting some $$$ on Kraniotakes @ +275?

    I won $300 today on De Fries and Barao, so I was wanting to use “house” money on the 2 big underdogs tonight.

  3. Not sure on Kraniotakes…Sylvia looks to be in much better shape than in recent times…which says he’s taking things seriously…obviously Pro Elite wants him to win so which should tell you a little about Kraniotakes…I’d probably stay away from that one and keep that house money!
