UFC 137 headliners B.J. Penn and Nick Diaz, as well as co-headliners Matt Mitrione and Cheick Kongo, took part in a media conference call Wednesday to help promote their upcoming Oct. 29 Pay-Per-View bouts taking place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

There was some controversy as Diaz was almost a no-show. When Diaz did finally arrive he said he did not even know there was a call until just a few minutes earlier. You know it’s always going to be entertaining when Nick Diaz shows up and this call was no exception.

Another interesting tidbit is that Penn said no one from the UFC ever told him his fight was being moved to the main event. UFC President Dana White responded via Twitter, saying “True, but what difference does it make?”

It probably makes little difference except that sponsors generally pay more for a fighter headlining a card as opposed to the co-main event, so it probably would have been nice to know, eh?
