Following his fourth round submission of Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at UFC 135 last month, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones‘ next title defense will be against Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida at UFC 140 on Dec. 10 in Toronto.

Jones vs. Machida will headline the event at the Air Canada Centre. UFC President Dana White confirmed the match-up via Twitter on Thursday.

Jones’ submission of Jackson was his first title defense since taking the title from Mauricio “Shogun” Rua via third round TKO at UFC 128 back in March.

Machida is coming off a second round knockout win over Randy Couture at UFC 129 in April. Prior to that he had lost a unanimous decision to Quinton Jackson last November and lost his light heavyweight title to “Shogun” via first round knockout in May of last year. The back-to-back losses were the first of Machida’s career.

UFC 140 also includes a heavyweight rematch between Frank Mir and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and a light heavyweight bout between Tito Ortiz and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. See our Upcoming Events page for the full fight card as it comes together.
