Absolute Action MMA XVII: Stacked takes place tonight at Sports of All Sorts in Florence, KY.  A mixed pro/am card, Matt Bell takes on Ryan Debelak for the AAMMA amateur light heavyweight title.

Absolute Action MMA XVII: Stacked play-by-play:

(135) Tyrelle Olding vs. Carson Gainey (PRO)

Round 1 – Olding lands a body kick early but Gainey scoops him up for a takedown.  Olding reaches for a guillotine but Gainey lands some shots from side control.  Gainey moves to the north-south position, and reaches for a choke and Olding taps quickly, ending the fight.

Official Result: Carson Gainey defeats Tyrelle Olding by submission (north-south choke) at 1:03 of Round 1.

(155 title) Michael Krick vs. James Morton

Round 1 – Leg kick from Krick to start the action.  Morton misses with a combo and moves in for the shot but Krick stuffs it and they clinch with Morton against the cage.  Krick lands an inside knee that apparently hits Morton in the groin, and the action is briefly stopped.  Morton lands a good body kick and there is more circling.  Krick lands a right and a right from Morton falls short.  Morton lands a good right and gets a takedown.  Krick tries to work his way back up but Morton keeps him down and takes side control.  Krick rolls and Morton tries to tie his head up but Krick stands and Morton presses him against the cage.  Krick lands a knee to the body and Oleg looks for a takedown but can’t finish it.  Krick lands a couple short shots as the round ends.  ProMMAnow.com sees that round a close 10-9 for Morton, mainly because of the takedown.

Round 2 – Morton lands a good body kick to start and then grazes Krick with a leg kick.  Morton goes for a headkick but Krick checks it and takes him down briefly looking for a guillotine.  They work back to the feet and Morton tries to land some knees to Krick’s legs but they don’t appear to hit with much power.  Morton lands a couple short body shots and spins trying take Krick down, getting the takedown after a couple attempts.  Morton moves for an arm triangle from a crouched position and Morton transitions it to a rear naked choke attempt, but Krick spins and the two stand again.  Morton looks for a standing guillotine and lands a good knee to Krick’s face as the round ends.  ProMMAnow.com sees that round 10-9 for Morton.

Round 3 – Circling early in the round.  Morton whifs a leg kick and Krick whifs a headshot.  More range-testing, little action from either fighter.  Krick lands a straight left and Morton answer with a right and moves for a takedown but Krick gets on the better end of it for a moment, defending, until Morton takes him down.  Morton moves to side control and puts a knee on Krick’s stomach, landing a couple short shots to Krick’s head.  Morton lands a couple more short headshots and pins down one of Krick’s arms with his knee.  Krick spins and moves out the backdoor and they stsand again, trading short knees as the round ends.  ProMMAnow.com sees it 10-9 for Morton.

Round 4 – Morton misses with a headkick and then a front kick.  Krick grazes Morton with a front kick and Morton answers with a solid leg kick.  Krick lands a right and Morton lands a body kick and quickly moves in for a standing guillotine, securing the tap and retaining his title.

(Hvy Title) Andrew Fogg vs. Joshua Franklin

Round 1 – Touch of the gloves and we’re off.  Some range-testing early and Fogg lands a leg kick.  Fogg misses with a big overhand right and Franklin sneaks in a jab.  Franklin falls short with a leg kick and Fogg answers with one of his own followed by a body kick.  Fogg lands a straight right and lands a body shot.  They trade outside leg kicks and then inside leg kicks.  Fogg lands another inside leg kick and Franklin answers and then they clinch up, trading head shots.  Franklin lands a short knee to the body and Franklin answers with one of his own.  Franklin lands a trio of knees to the body and Fogg sneaks in a big uppercut.  They trade headshots and clinch back up and Fogg lands a body shot.  They trade knees to the body and Fogg lands a short uppercut as the round expires.  A fairly close round there, but Fogg should take it 10-9 based on cage control and number of shots landed.

Round 2 – Jab from Fogg starts the round.  Fogg grazes Franklin with a headkick and Franklin gets a punch down the middle in the process.  Franklin lands a leg kick and then a kick by Fogg hits Franklin in the groin and the action is stopped.  Fogg starts the action after the break with an overhand right.  They trade leg kicks and Franklin misses with a head kick and spinning backfist combo.  Fogg pushes Franklin against the cage and Franklin grazes him with a knee to the head.  Fogg lands some short body shots  and connects with a right hook.  Franklin looks for a knee to the body, lands one and then a second.  Fogg lands a body shot and then a three punch combo to end the round.  Another fairly close round, but Fogg should also see the better end of the scorecards, 10-9, in that round with his aggression and combo to end the round.

Round 3 – Fogg shoots in and presses Franklin against the cage, and they struggle against the fence.  Franklin reaches for a guillotine but Fogg spins out and takes Franklin down.  Fogg lands a pair of hard body shots, working from side control.  Franklin reaches for a guillotine again but Fogg pulls his head out and lands a pair of short head shots.  Fogg lands another head shot and Franklin tries to roll but Fogg stops him and lands more headshots.  Fogg moves to mount and lands shots from the top, straightening one of Franklin’s arms out before quickly transitioning to the armbar and getting the quick tap to become the new Absolute Action MMA amateur heavyweight champ.

Official Result: Andrew Fogg defeats Josh Franklin by submission (armbar) at 1:56 in Round 3.

(Vacant 170 Title) Mike Dabe vs. James Fehring

Round 1 – Push kick from Dabe falls short and the two clinch up.  Dabe carries Fehring to his corner but can’t complete the takedown.  Dabe lands a good knee to Fehring’s leg, but then Fehring scores a big hip toss taking Dabe down.  Fehring lands shots from the top and they stand.  Fehring lands a two punch combo and Dabe shoots in for a takedown.  Fehring defends but Dabe completes it.  Fehring hooks Dabe’s neck, but Dabe lifts Fehring to score another takedown.  Fehring gets out and lands a couple quick punches before Dabe moves in looking for another takedown.  Fehring has Dabe’s neck hooked and has a solid guillotine attempt that sees Dabe tap, making Fehring the new Absolute Action MMA amateur welterweight champ.

(Vacant 205 Title) Matt Bell vs. Ryan Debelak

Round 1 – Headkick by Debelak misses.  Bell pushes Debelak against the cage and Debelak lands a couple short body shots.  They trade knees to the body and Bell continues to press Debelak against the cage.  Bell goes for a takedown but Debelak gets the top position and lands some shots before Bell goes for a kimura.  Debelak lands more shots from the top, stands, then moves back in, to side control.  Bell moves to pull guard but Debelak stays busy landing shots from the top.  Debelak lands a couple more short headshots as the round ends.  ProMMAnow.com sees that round 10-9 for Debelak.

Round 2 – Bell storms Debelak quickly and lands a hook that floors Debeleak. Bell looks for a standing guillotine but can’t finish it. They separate and circle. Debelak looks a little shaky, but lands a body kick. Debelak missess witha superman punch and Bell lands a knee that takes Debelak down. Bell pounces on the ground, landing headshots from the side, and a knee to the body before going for more headshots until the referee moves in to stop it, making Bell the new Absolute Action MMA amateur light heavyweight champ.

Official Result: Matt Bell defeats Ryan Debelak by TKO (punches) at 1:39 in Round 2.
