In leading up to her title fight this weekend, Shoot Media put together this in-depth interview and mini-documentary on Strikeforce women’s 135-pound number one contender Miesha Tate.

Ms. Tate discusses how she first got into sports as a child, made the transition to wrestling and then to MMA. She talks about training with guys and fighting, while at the same time being able to embrace her femininity.

This Saturday Ms. Tate will finally get her shot at Strikeforce women’s 135-pound champ Marloes Coenen for the title. She feels it is her time to become champion and says she wants to beat Coenen so badly the ref pulls her off out of fear for Coenen’s life.

“I know in my heart that this is my time. I can feel it, like I’m going to win this fight.”
