Matt Brown (left) will face John Howard at UFC Live 4

A welterweight matchup between Matt “The Immortal” Brown and John “Doomsday” Howard will be featured on the main card of the UFC Live 4 event that will take place Sunday night in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Brown has lost three straight fights via submission and Howard has lost his last two, albeit against top competition. This fight is probably a loser gets cut from the promotion type deal, but it should be a good one.

Matt Brown comes into this fight with an overall record of (11-10) with 6 wins via TKO/KO and 5 wins via submission. Brown is a gritty in your face type of fighter that only knows how to come forward. He’s pretty strong for a welterweight, but the largest hole in his game is his submission defense. He has been submitted in 8 of his 10 losses. When you lose via submission 80% of the time that’s a problem.

John Howard comes into this fight with an overall record of (14-6) with 6 wins via submission and 4 wins via TKO/KO. Howard is fairly well rounded in that he has wrestling, likes to stand and bang, but is also capable of winning via submission.

Both guys are pretty exciting to watch fight and I expect this fight to be no different unless both guys fight overly cautious for fear of being cut from the promotion with a loss. I expect Brown to come forward constantly attacking with Howard countering for a bit since he likes to strike. However, I expect him to take Brown to the ground and some point and exploit his weak submission defense.  Almost all of Howard’s losses have been against top fighters, so I expect him to be able to get the win against Brown probably via submission.
