UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, along with Bellator lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, attended Spike TV’s “Guys Choice” Awards this past weekend in Culver City, Calif.
The two professional mixed martial arts champions are pictured here on the red carpet with former pro boxing great Micky Ward and his trainer/half-brother Dicky Eklund.
The 2010 movie “The Fighter”, starring Mark Wahlberg, was based on Ward’s rise to the championship with the help of Eklund, who was played by Christian Bale.
Eklund was a prominent boxer in his own right before becoming addicted to crack cocaine which ultimately led to his arrest and serving time in prison. His most notable bout was a decision loss to “Sugar” Ray Leonard in 1978.
Fans can watch “Bones” Jones accept his “Most Dangerous Man” award at The “Guys Choice” Awards when it airs Friday, June 10, at 9 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. CT on Spike TV.
