LAS VEGAS – The Ultimate Fighter 13: Team Lesnar vs. Team dos Santos Finale takes place this evening at The Pearl at The Palms Casino Resort and will broadcast LIVE on Spike TV beginning at 9 p.m. CT.

Tonight’s event features the finals of this season’s Ultimate Fighter welterweight tournament. Competing against one another for a six figure contract with the UFC will be Ramsey Nijem (5-1) of Team dos Santos taking on Team Lesnar’s Tony Ferguson (11-2).

In the TUF 13 Finale main event, the ever-energetic wrestler Clay Guida (28-11) will pit his skills against the dynamic striking and jiu-jitsu of Anthony Pettis (11-1) in a lightweight match-up.

Shamar Bailey vs. Ryan McGillivray

Round 1 – ProMMAnow.com readers will remember Ryan as our TUF 13 blogger. We also interviewed Shamar. Both good guys here. Interesting match up. Ryan using a jab keeping Shamar back from shooting. Ryan swings big and gets put on his back. Shamar gets side control. Shamar grabs ankle control to keep Ryan from getting up. Knee to the ribs from Shamar. Ryan puts his feet on the cage. Ryan gets to his feet after using a D’arce attempt from the bottom. Shamar landed a knee to the chin on the way up. Big left from Shamar lands on the forehead. Shamar shoots, stuffed. Ryan using good footwork. Shamar calling Ryan to come on. Ryan swings, goes for his own takedown but ends up on his back. Shamar in side control. Ryan gets to his knees, rolls, and Shamar lets him up. Shamar looks a bit tired. Nice right from Shamar. Ryan lands a lead left hook. Shamar grabs a leg and gets a big takedown at the end of the round. ProMMAnow.com scores the round 10-9 for Shamar.

Round 2 – Jason MacDonald told Ryan to throw punches even if they aren’t going to land, to keep him from shooting. Ryan throwing jabs and combos now. Shamar shoots, stuffed. Shamar with a counter right. Shamar muscles a takedown and is on top in half guard. Big right hand from top from Shamar. Ryan grabs Shamar’s leg, lets it go as Shamar flattens him out. Short left elbows from Shamar. Ryan gets to his knees, he rolls and gets full guard. Ryan looking for something but Shamar stands up and dives in with a right hand. Kick to the kneecap from Ryan. Shamar gets into side control. Ryan grabs a D’arce from the bottom and uses it to get to his knees. Shamr has side control as Ryan in defense mode. Big knee to the side of McGillivray. Shamar puts him on his back and holds from side control. ProMMAnow.com scores the round 10-9 for Bailey.

Round 3 – Surprising Ryan’s corner didn’t tell him he needs to finish this fight. Ryan goes for a high kick and ends up on his back. Head kick from Ryan, throws a sloppy knee and ends up on his back as Shamar grabs it. Shamar in side control and the crowd boos his non punishment. Ryan gets to his knees and Shamar lands punches and knees to the ribs. Ryan in defense mode once again. Ryan gets to his feet, uppercut from Shamar. Ryan on his feet. Ryan with a head kick that is blocked. Shamar shoots, stuffed. Shamar counters with a right. Shamar grabs Ryan from behind and Ryan falls to his knees. Shamar puts him on his back and is in side control. Boos from the crowd. Shamar with some elbows and punches from side control. Ryan gets to his feet and calls Shamar to come forward. Ryan throws a kick and Shamar catches it. They tie up until the bell. Ryan was clearly very aggravated by the wrestling of Shamar that stifled his game. Josh Grispi vs. George Roop

Round 1 – Grispi attacks with punches, puts Roop against the cage. Roop with some nice elbows but Grispi puts him on his back. Roop with his back against the cage. Roop trying to get to his feet. Grispi has side control and is looking for Roop’s arm. Grispi switches to a guillotine as Roop gets to his feet. Grispi lets it go and gets a takedown but Roop lands several hard elbows to the side of Grispi’s head. Grispi gets full mount on Roop. Roop gets to one knee but Grispi is all over him, grabs a single leg, lets it go. Clinched against the cage. They separate. Grispi comes in swinging and Roop counters with punches. They tie up and Grispi pulls guard. Bit elbows from Roop. Punches from Roop and a nice knee to end the round. ProMMAnow.com scores the round 10-9 for Roop. I have no idea why Grispi pulled guard… that was ridiculous and in my opinion cost him the round.

Round 2 – Front kick to the gut knocks Grispi on his back. Very hard kick. Roop on top inside guard. Grispi with wrist control. He tries to sweep but the cage prevents him from flipping him over. Roop postures up with several punches. Elbows from Roop, big punches to the body and more elbows. Roop is wearing Grispi down. Grispi with some hard shots to the face. Grispi gives up his back with two minutes to go. Roop trying to take his back, but stands up, lands a couple shots and dives back into the guard of Grispi. Roop with some mean elbows to the body and face. Big left elbow from Roop. Grispi gets to his knees but Roop remains in control, big left hand and a knee from Roop. ProMMAnow.com scores the round 10-8 for Roop. Big big round for Roop.

Round 3 – Leg kick from Roop. Front kick and punch from Roop, leg kick. Leg kick again. Combo and kicks from Roop. Inside leg kick from both guys. Grispi catches a leg and gets the takedown. Roop attacks from his back with an omoplata, Grispi pulls out and Roop stands. Grispi shoots, gets the takedown. Roop gets up. Grispi loses his mouthpiece, tries to put it in as he gets punched. Body kick from Roop and leg kick. Nice right to the body from Roop, then a kick across the top of both thighs and the ref halts the action as a low blow. It’s only stopped for a second though as Grispi says he’s okay. Roop attacks with several shots. Grispi backs up and Roop lands one single big right hand to the solar plexus and Grispi is down and out. Whoa-ho!!! Beautiful!

Danny Downes vs. Jeremy Stephens

Round 1 – Leg kick from Downes, Stephens comes  in and clinches. Downes stops the takedown. Stephens with a leg kick. Knee from Downes as Stephens clinches. Downes stops the takedown again. Stephens swings and misses. Downes with a jab. Big body punch from Stephens scores. Presses Downes against the cage. Downes reverses position. Stephens with a knee to the body. Big leg kick from Stephens. Leg kick from Downes. Downes with a tie clinch and knee to the body. Stephens clinches against the cage. Knees to the body by both guys. Elbows from Downes. Knee to the body from Downes. Leg kick from Downes. Clinch, knee from Stephens. Jab from Stephens. Uppercut from Stephens lands solid. Clinch, separate. Stephens with a big one two that rocks Downes. Elbow from Downes. Leg kick from Stephens then a big lead hook scores. Downes presses forward with a Superman punch and kick combo. ProMMAnow.com scores the round 10-9 for Stephens.

Round 2 – Leg kick and left hand from Stephens with power. Leg kick from Downes. Clinch against the cage, elbow from Downes. Stephens looks for the takedown and gets it. Downes locks on a guillotine as they hit the ground. Stephens grabs the hand and pulls it off. Stephens on top in full guard now. Stephens stands up and dives into side control with a punch. Stephens locks up a tight kimura. Nasty, nasty and deep.  Big elbow from Stephens, another one. That was nasty. This kid has heart. Downes back to his feet as the crowd cheers. Downes slips on a kick but stands up. Stephens misses with a huge uppercut. Downes with a low kick to the groin earns Stephens a time out. Body kick from Downes, leg kick, front kick. Body kick from Stephens. Uppercut and big right from Stephens. Nice right from Downes. Stephens grabs a single, puts him down. Stephens gets side control but Downes is back up, they exchange knees. Round 3 – I can’t believe Downes’ arm is not ripped out of his socket. Nice big combo from Stephens. Then he gets the takedown. Downes gets up right away, clinched. Downes is opened up now and bleeding badly over his left eye. Stephens picks Downes up and runs across the cage with a slam. Downes puts his feet on the cage. Downes gets up, eats a big knee on the way up. Punches from the clinch from Stephens, then a big body shot. Stephens gets another takedown. Downes gets to his knees and stands. Knee to the head from Stephens. Downes backs out of the clinch and squares up. Stephens puts him on his back again. Downes grabs an arm, looking for an armbar. Stephens pulls out, big big elbow, moves to half guard. Stephens gets full mount with ten seconds left. Stephens gets Downes back and puts on the choke until time runs out. Downes survives. This was a huge huge step up in competition for Downes. He survived, will learn a lot from this but Stephens definitely got the win. Chuck O’Neil vs. Chris Cope

Round 1 – I wonder if Chris Cope is related to Kit Cope? Woo! shouts from the crowd. Leg kick from O’Neil, again. Inside leg kick from Cope. O’Neil initiates the clinch. Knee from O’Neil to the body. They separate and square up. Nice leg kick from Cope and O’Neil gives him one in return. O’Neil parts Cope’s short hair with a high kick. Leg kick from O’Neil and Cope fires one back. Nice left hook from Cope. Jab to the body from Cope. Left hook from O’Neil but Cope lands a huge left hook that staggers O’Neil just a bit. They clinch up. O’Neil backs out. Big leg kick from O’Neil. Nice right from O’Neil. Inside leg kick from Cope. Nice body shot from Cope but he eats a big counter. Leg kick from both guys. Body jab from Cope. Spinning back kick to the gut knocks O’Neil back. Left hook from Cope. Head kick from Cope. Body kick from O’Neil. ProMMAnow.com scores the round 10-9 for Cope. Cope gives two big “Woo’s!” from his stool. The crowd echoes his sentiments, they love it!

Round 2 – Leg kick from O’Neil. Again. Again. Cope gives one inside. Nice body shot from Cope. Inside leg kick. They clinch up, Cope pushes him against the cage. Body shots from Cope. No relation to Kit Cope says Goldy. Leg kick from O’Neil, head kick from Cope is mostly blocked. Spinning head kick from Cope misses, but lands a left hook. Inside leg kick from Cope. Leg kick from O’Neil. Both guys try spinning kicks and both miss. Cope being much more aggressive. Two big leg kicks from Cope, another one. Cope with a leg kick, he just seems much more relaxed. Round 3 – Leg kick from O’Neil and Cope gives him a couple back. Another one. Cope gets a body lock, pushes him to the cage, knee to the body. Chuck tries to take it down but no dice. O’Neil with a leg kick and Cope gives him one back. Big left from Cope. Leg kick from Cope on the end of a punch combo. Head kick from Cope. Nice left from Cope, nice body shot, head kick, spinning heel kick. Nice right to the body from Cope, he grabs a tie clinch, lands a couple knees. They clinch up, Chuck looks for a single but Cope beats him out of it. Cope’s striking is just much more developed than O’Neil’s. They separate, “Woo!” from Cope. Spinning back kick to the head from Cope and a nice spinning back kick and punch combo on the end of it. Great showcase here for Chris Cope. Inside leg kick from Cope. Body shot, head shot, right hand from Cope. Cope picking him apart now. O’Neil with no answer. Head kick from Cope. Round 1 – Leg kick from Kingsbury. Again. Body kick. Tie clinch and several knees from Kingsbury but Maldonado blocked them all. Left jab from Kingsbury. Nice left from Maldonado. Left hook from Kingsbury. Tie clinch and knee to the chin from KIngsbury, he gets the takedown but Maldonado hooked on an arm in guillotine, it’s tight, they roll and Kingsbury is out and up. Body punch from Maldonado. Left jab from Kingsbury. Big left hook another one from Maldonado. Leg kick from Kingsbury. They trade jabs. Counter combo from Maldonado. Big one two from Maldonado. Kingsbury’s had enough, shoots, stuffed. They trade big shots, both landing. KIngsbury gets a trip takedown with one minute to go. He’s on top in half guard. Maldonado sweeps and gets to the feet. Body combo from Maldonado. Kingsbury backing up. Tie clinch and a big knee from Kingsbury. Kingsbury slips and falls to his back right at the bell. Great fight and a close round. Round 2 – Maldonado blocks two body kicks. Kingsbury shoots and gets the takedown, lands on top in half guard. Maldonado with a beautiful move, takes top position then stands. Kingsbury tries for a trip takedown but falls down. Ref lets him up. Leg kick knocks Maldonado down. Maldonado with a hook and Kingsbury shoots under for the takedown. Maldonado immediately gets up. Right hand from Maldonado. Clinch, body shots from Maldonado, he stuffs a takedown. Left jab from Kingsbury. Body kick. Kingsbury shoots, stuffed. He lands a couple jabs. Ed Herman vs. Tim Credeur

Round 1 – Leg kick from Credeur. Nice left from Herman. Right from Credeur then a left. Herman drops Credeur to his back with a right uppercut. He then followed up with four more punches to Credeur while he was on his back for the knockout. Nice return to the Octagon for “Short Fuse”. Both of these guys have been out of action since 2009.

Anthony Pettis vs. Clay Guida

Round 1 – Intense stare down. Guida looks SERIOUS. Guida with a lot of movement, throws the first strikes, they miss. Pettis remaining calm. Head kick from Pettis blocked. Guida catches a kick and puts Pettis on his back. Pettis grabs an arm looks for an armbar. Guida stands to his feet leaning on Pettis. Knee to the backside of Pettis. Guida with a left hand, Pettis catches his wrist and strikes off his back. Guida inside full guard now. Throws a big Right that misses. Pettis throws a head kick off his back that misses. Guida pushes him against the cage, gets the takedown. Guida inside his closed guard. Guida with shoulder strikes. Pettis with wrist control and throws up a triangle. Guida escapes but continues looking for stuff. Pettis working his quite amazing guard. Guida with shoulder strikes, not able to do much more than that from top position. Guida does get to half guard. Round 2 – Pettis counters with a left. Guida with a leg kick, another one inside. Guida shoots, gets the takedown. Pettis with his back against the cage, holding onto Guida. Guida with shoulder strikes to Pettis’ chest. Pettis gets up but Guida stuck on his leg like a leech on a baby. Knee to the thigh from Guida. Pettis lands an uppercut on the break. Head kick scores for Pettis. Pettis with a spinning back kick scores. Leg kick from  Guida. He catches a Pettis leg kick. Guida lures Pettis into a striking game and gets a huge takedown. Chants of “Guida” from the crowd. Guida inside the full guard. Pettis locks on an armbar but despite what Rogan says, it was not close. ProMMAnow.com scores the round 10-9 for Guida.

Round 3 – Guida walking Pettis down. Overhand right and big takedown from Guida. Pettis immediately has wrist control. Hammerfists from Guida. Guida inside full guard. Elbow from Guida. Guida making this fight very ugly, moves to half guard, using shoulder strikes. Guida is doing exactly what he does best. Pettis trying to get up but Guida holding on tight. Pettis is up to his feet but Guida hangs on tight. Guida drags him down but winds up on bottom. Pettis mounts and takes his back. Pettis with a big right hand. Guida grabs wrist control with one minute left. Guida slips out the back door and regains top control Guida is just awesome. Guida moves to side control and the crowd roars. Guida takes Pettis’ back now, both hooks in and that’s it folks. Clay Guida did it!!!  Give this guy a title shot Dana!! He beat the man with all the hype and beat him decisively. Wow!! Ramsey Nijem vs. Tony Ferguson

Round 1 – Tony did not look in Ramsey’s eyes at the stare down. Ramsey swings and Tony puts Ramsey down. Tony is in side control, then moves to half guard. Ramsey gets to his knees, they scramble, Ramsey is up as Tony throws some punches. Ramsey swings back. Ramsey not scared to stand with him so far. One two from Ramsey. Left hand from Tony. Leg kick from Ramsey. One two from Ferguson and Ramsey with a flurry causes Tony to shoot. Ramsey sprawls, has a hold of a leg, lets it go as they stand up. Leg kick from Tony. Nice right from Ramsey. Left jab from Tony. Right hook from Tony. Right from Ramsey. Huge left hand knocks Ramsey down and out.

  1. Fabio Maldonado should have tried to put KIngsbury away in that last round.

  2. I like Pettis but “The Carpenter” needs to show him this is his house. Clay is a veteran of the UFC and can’t let young flashy come in and take him out — would not look good at all for Guida. Lot of pride at stake here.
