Cecil People might have some help on the way!

Last month I wrote about an obvious solution to help MMA judges do their judge better and more consistently.

The use of monitors for MMA judges is a no-brainer, simply because it would allow judges to see things that they would not have the opportunity to see without them.

According to Sherdog, judges will have monitors at UFC 131 in Vancouver and UFC vice president of regulatory affairs Marc Ratner spoke on the matter:

“Anything we can do to give the judges another tool is great,” Marc Ratner, UFC vice president of regulatory affairs, told Sherdog.com “We’re very excited about it.”

The UFC has requested monitors for judges for the UFC 130 event that will take place at the end of this month in Las Vegas, Nevada. Keith Kizer, the NSAC’s executive director said monitors would not be in use in Nevada anytime soon. However, he did not rule out monitors for judges entirely either. If Zuffa is denied the request for monitors for UFC 130, at least it shows that they are interested in providing judges with all the tools to be accurate as possible. This movement comes on the heels of several questionable judging decisions in the past few months. Some of the ‘controversial’ decisions can be found below:

This news comes on the heels of Zuffa getting a great deal of positive momentum by announcing that it would be providing insurance to all the fighters it has under contract earlier this week. Now if they could only  keep their fighters from getting injured while training for title fights….
