Replacing an injured Jonathan Brookins (12-3), Roufusport lightweight Daniel “Danny Boy” Downes (8-1)  will return to the UFC Octagon less than a month after his last fight to take on Jeremy “Lil Heathen” Stephens (19-6) at the TUF 13 Finale on June 4 in Las Vegas.

UFC President Dana White confirmed the replacement on Tuesday. The June 4 bout with Stephens will mark Downes’ official UFC debut.

Because the UFC has so many lightweights under contract at the moment, Downes was able to take a fight outside the promotion last weekend, and fortunately for him, he won. Downes submitted one Tory Bogguess (4-5) via first round triangle choke at “NAFC: Mayhem” in Milwaukee, Wis.

Prior to his win over Bogguess, Downes was coming off a unanimous decision win over the previously unbeaten Chinese standout Tiequan “The Mongolian Wolf” Zhang (13-1) at the final WEC event in December 2010.

Stephens is coming off a third round knockout victory over veteran Marcus Davis (17-1-2) at UFC 125 back in January which won “Lil’ Heathen” “Knockout of the Night” honors.
