The Maximum Fighting Championship has officially announced that a lightweight title fight between Drew Fickett and Hermes Franca will headline MFC 30. The card takes place June 10 at the Mayfield Conference Centre in Edmonton.

According to the promotion, former champion Antonio McKee “mutually vacated” the title. McKee successfully defended the belt with a first-round TKO over Luciano Azevedo before leaving for a chance in the UFC.

In 2009, Fickett lost five-straight fights in various regional promotions. However, last year, he won three fights in one night to win the Shine Fights Lightweight Grand Prix. His comeback continued in February when he submitted UFC veteran Matt Veach in less than a minute at MFC 28.

Franca is also trying to revive his career. After dropping four fights in a row and retiring during the streak, Franca has won three-straight contests. At MFC 29, he made his promotional debut with a second-round knockout of Robert Washington.

The MFC also announced another pair of fights for the card. UFC veteran Marcus Davis will take on Richie Whitson. After fighting to a draw at MFC 28, Sheldon Wescott and Thomas Denny will fight for a second time.
