The UFC has announced another fight for their upcoming UFC 134 card. Lightweights Edson Barboza and Ross Pearson will square off at the event. UFC Rio takes place Aug. 27 at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Fighters Only had reported that the promotional was angling towards a fight between Barboza and former Pride FC champion Takanori Gomi. However, that is no longer the plan.

Barboza burst onto the UFC scene at UFC 123. He brutalized Mike Lullo with leg kicks and took home a third-round technical-knockout victory. He returned at UFC 128 and picked up a decision victory over Anthony Njokuani.

Before coming to the UFC, Barboza held the Ring of Combat lightweight title and defeated current M-1 champion Jose Figueroa.

Pearson defeated teammate Andre Winner in the finals of the TUF 9 lightweight tournament. Since then, he has gone 3-1 in the promotion. In his last fight, he got back on track with a decision victory over Spencer Fisher at UFC 127. Pearson trains with the likes of Dan Hardy, Paul Daley and Jim Wallhead at the Rough House.

In the main event of UFC 134, middleweight champion Anderson Silva will defend his title against the last man to defeat him, Yushin Okami. The two previously faced off in the first round of the Rumble on the Rock welterweight tournament with Okami scoring a disqualification victory.
