Zuffa has reportedly released middleweight Mario Miranda from his UFC contract. Miranda’s manager Ed Soares confirmed the transaction during a Wednesday appearance on MMAWeekly radio.

Miranda has dropped back-to-back fight in the promotion, which is probably the reason for his release. His dropped unanimous decisions to both former title contender Demian Maia and Aaron Simpson. His lone UFC victory came against David Loiseau at UFC 115.

Before coming to the UFC, Miranda built an undefeated 11-0 record on the local circuit. During his early career, he defeated UFC veterans Rick Story and Joe Vedepo. He also holds a victory over heavyweight Bellator and Strikeforce veteran Mike Hayes.

After Zuffa amalgamated two of their MMA products, the UFC and the WEC, several fighters were released. Now that the promotion own Strikeforce, another wave of fighters might be handed their walking papers.
